NOSO is a real-world platform for temporary disengagement from social networking environments. The NOSO experience offers a unique opportunity to create NO Connections by scheduling NO Events with other NO Friends.
Save your money don’t go to the show!
The Voice Of Cheese: Ryan McNealy
VOC #28, ladies ‘n gentlemen — featuring Ryan McNealy, whose nom de plume is Hank Peters. Ryan says:
In order to continue the flow of the wonderful VoC, I thought “what the hell”, and decided to submit my amateurish audio piece to you. It’s called “Adventures Through FM Radio”, and I’m sure as hell that this concept has been done before (and executed better).
The guitar quality sounds a bit iffy in some parts, but this is what you get for being 16 and not able to afford quality microphones.
Either way, VoC must not die! I will threaten you with more content if you even think twice of removing it!
Why thanks for that threat Ryan Hank! Have a listen:

Columbus ’71
What’s that saying again, “misery loves company”? Aah yes, that’s the one. Earlier today my car decided it would be a good idea to drop dead on me, and thought the event would be even more exciting were it to occur while its owner was lost in the middle of nowhere. Well, mission accomplished, you worthless bloody ’93 build Renault Laguna piece of motorized French crap.
Luckily, Dr Sharl managed to call in a cab for me. The twenty minute drive home cost me 25 euro. Hint: don’t ever take a taxi in Belgium.
All this to present you with this week’s Friday Boot — on a Thursday: Columbus, Ohio, 23 May 1971. I’ll be off for most of the day tomorrow having the old git towed to the garage and generally throwing around money for no apparent reason.
Meantime: enjoy, and behave.

YMCÄ
Watch in awe as Finnish band Gregorius rock out on The Village People’s YMCA:
I’m speechless. Brilliant.
Update: Phax, of Finnish persuasion, comments:
The bassist is actually Pekka Pohjola, who played with Finnish prog band Wigwam and Mike Oldfield among others and was reportedly supposed to record with FZ himself, as “FZ especially liked to play with Bassist Pohjola, whom he had met already during his previous visits. He was planning to record something with Pekka, but this plan was never realised.â€. Small world eh?
Small world indeed.

Last Bang
Hell freezes over: the Rolling Stones will reportedly quit touring for good after playing London’s O2 Arena this Sunday after 45 years in the music business.
The veteran rockers are believed to have declared that their current A Bigger Bang Tour will be their last because frontman Sir Mick Jagger, 64, and guitarist Keith Richards, 63, will be too old to do another.
I find that quote irresistibly funny for some reason.

The Voice Of Cheese: Ken Duvall
VOC #27 features regular KUR commenter Ken Duvall. Ken says:
OK – Here’s my song Aftermath, recorded a few years ago with the help of my brother Rich, and Skip West. It was at one time a longer piece, but I prefer this short edit…
A homegrown slice of Waka/Jawaka anyone? Have a listen:

Compact Disc is 25 Years Old
The first ones were produced aug. 17, 1982. And the “first CD to be manufactured at the plant was ‘The Visitors’ by ABBA.”
And how long will this format last?

Orange Sunshine
Aah the late 60s. Hippies! Summer of love! Groovy music!
LSD.
Check this trailer for an upcoming documentary of The Brotherhood Of Eternal Love, entitled Orange Sunshine:
More about The Brotherhood docu here:
The group’s headquarters, a Laguna Beach head shop called Mystic Arts World, mysteriously burned down in 1970, and two years later, law enforcement indicted several dozen members of the group. Those who weren’t arrested fled overseas. The story of the Brotherhood is one of the strangest chapters of American counter-cultural history, yet 40 years after its inception during the so-called Summer of Love, it’s one that remains little-understood and, outside the confines of Laguna Canyon, all but unknown.
“As one former member — who spoke on the condition of anonymity — told me, ‘If you remember it, you weren’t there.'”
Heh.

Touring Can Make You Crazy
Adrian Belew continues to publish amazing anecdotes on his Elephant Blog. Take anecdote #37 which he dubs The Fourth Day Of My Professional Touring Life. In it, he tells the tale of FZ’s “then-new” tour manager Ron Nehoda:
the morning after our show at the Aladdin Pancho came around 9 AM to pick up the bags. when he got to Ron’s room there was no answer. eventually he had a security person open the door. Ron was sitting quietly in a bathtub full of water and blood. he had slit his wrists. evidently Ron had a serious gambling addiction as well as a taste for coke. he had gotten himself so coked up the night before he had gambled away frank’s earnings from the concert (reportedly about $15,000.00). as they took him from the tub he was still alive. he said to poor Pancho. “I’ll tell you about it later”.
Not so much as an oblique reference to this incident to be found in any of the FZ-books I’ve read. Weird.
