Dub Room Special DVD

Okay okay so Dub Room Special, the DVD, was released on October 18. Isn’t it funny that instead of zappa.com giving you the news, one needs to google up Eagle Rock Entertainment in order to find out?

Say “Yes Paul“!

Prussian Blue

Cutesy thirteen-year-old twins Lamb and Lynx Gaede have one album out, another on the way, a music video, and lots of fans.
So what? Hang on:

“We’re proud of being white, we want to keep being white,” said Lynx. “We want our people to stay white … we don’t want to just be, you know, a big muddle. We just want to preserve our race.”

Yes: 13 and they know how to nasty spread racial hate. Songs like “Sacrifice” — a tribute to Nazi Rudolf Hess, Hitler’s deputy Fuhrer — praise Hess as a “man of peace who wouldn’t give up.”

Kids today…

The Cobain Case

Did Kurt Cobain not commit suicide, but was he murdered instead? Some people believe the latter to be true.

Black Metal

Black Metal: How-To?

The second precondition is that you must be from Scandinavia, and it would be even better if you were from Norway. Countries such as Poland, Romania, Lithuania and Estonia are OK too, I suppose. Anyway, I suppose you can always lie, and still become a true black metal star.

UMRK Rehearsals

This week, instead of a regular live show, KUR is presenting two days of rehearsals at UMRK: January 28 and 29 1980. Twenty two tracks worth of unique material…

Update 22/10: as ever, Balint has some interesting background information to share with regard to these rehearsals.

Contemporary gizmos

Whereas the Clock of the Long Now will run with perfect accuracy for 10,000 years, the Industorious clock (sic) will probably get cramps on fingers much sooner than that. From the same author, the amaztype: an atractive interface that search and shows books, cd’s and dvd’s from any particular author (try searching for Zappa!). Here’s to see a ranking on the most popular words searched – look who’s first on the “Artist in Music” row (!!)

Mighty McFearless

Ahmet Zappa a children’s book author? Apparently so and what’s more, his upcoming “The Monstrous Memoirs of a Mighty McFearless” has just been bought for adaptation by Disney.

The book follows a brother and sister who discover they belong to a family of legendary monster hunters and must journey to a far-off castle to rescue their father from the most fearsome monster of all. Zappa, a sometime actor and son of rocker Frank Zappa, illustrated the more than 300 monsters in the book.
