CCFZ Webring Lives On

The CCFZ Webring, formerly managed by yours truly, has found a new caretaker. I’ve known Jason of ZappaFreaks for quite some time now as he is a regular reader of KUR, and I’m confident he’ll do a great job maintaining the ring.
Since I’m interested in knowing your opinion about the ring, I put up a little poll to the right of this page. Please cast your vote, thanks…

I’ve Had It With CCFZ

I’ve pretty much had it with administering CCFZ, the First FZ Webring.

(– “So Barry, that was you telling me to put up that javascript banner, upon which I was banned?” — “Yes, FZ fansite webmaster, that would have been me.”)

It was fun for a while but now, frankly, it’s become a bitch to maintain. For one thing, the webring.com system insists on doing my “ringmaster” job for me if I’m not fast enough (they approve whatever in my place before I’ve had a chance to look), and second: they keep kicking my butt for not having enough ring-members with valid webring-banners — well try telling the owner of a ten year old, abandoned fansite that he has to put up some cut/paste javascript on his page. Besides, the whole “webring”-technology is outdated anyway, in my view. I mean who surfs the web using a webring anymore?

So anyway, the CCFZ-webring is hereby “up for sale”. Actually, you can get it for free if you feel up to managing the sites. I, for one, have had enough. If no one has volunteered to take up the task of ringmaster within 2 weeks (you know how to contact me), this webring is going to be flushed down the proverbial toilet. Dominus Vobiscum, as they say.

Spam Attack

We’re under attack from a comment spammer who is currently attempting to post about 20 to 30 comments per minute. Weee! So why aren’t you seeing it here? Because he’s trying to hit a non-existent MovableType form (insert evil laughter). In the words of a certain someone: may his shit come to life and kiss him on the face. (Try googling that :) )

End Of Poll One

Allreety, I’ve closed the first poll where you were asked which format you prefer for the Friday Boots. I realize the irony of this poll coinciding with my having to take the latest boot offline — but anyway, a 110 votes later:
– mp3: 55%
– flac/shn: 40%
– no pref.: 5%
Duly noted! ;)
Oh, and have a look at the new poll, why don’t you…

Great Googly Moogly!

Being a bit late to the party, I’ve decided to give Google Ads a try on these pages. I settled for a pretty unobtrusive ad-placement (they’re below the “Recent Chatter” box to the right). Does this mean we’re only in it for the money? Well to the degree that, yes, we do have bills to pay and a gentle click every so often from our esteemed readers could help in doing just that (wow, that came out very subtle!). We’ll see how it works out.
Speaking about bills, this morning I went to the post-office to pick up my Barfko-Swill package. Thanks to the Belgian customs services I had to shell out an extra whopping 25.32 € (!!) just to get my sweaty hands on it. Got home and started listening to “Joe’s Domage“. It’s still playing but, from what I’ve heard so far, it ain’t half as bad as some had made it out to be! Stay tuned…

The Switch

Time to update your bookmarks. That which was once found under ye olde /hotpoop/ will now be found under /hot-poop/. Actually, your old bookmarks will still work (thanks to some hellish server noodling on my part) but nonetheless you are encouraged to update anyway. For any and all anomalies: feel free to drop a comment. Also: fellow HP contributors, drop a mail at killuglyradio at gmail dot com in order to retrieve your new login/passwords! Good night…
