May?… Isn’t it a bit far away? Well, quite a long time to practice, though.

Yeah it’s a bit far away but in the meantime I have this to look forward to! :)

Don’t get your hopes up! the odds are it won’t happen, and even if it does it won’t be all that good; Gail is in overall charge of the project!

“the odds are it won’t happen” — I dunno xorg, what do you base this on? And if it does happen, well: Gail may be in charge of the project but as far as I can tell she ain’t no musician, so whether it’ll be good or not is not related to her leading the project. Is it? My 2 eurocents…

Gail has not been all that good so far on living up to her promises, or even making herself clear! This is a project which requires organisation skills to get the right musicians together, but she doesn’t appear to have any such skills…for example, why is the official FZ website silent on the imminent release on DVD of ‘The Dub Room Special’ (they are taking orders for it at play.com), and how come there’s no updates on zappa.com about the Z plays Z tour? Remember the shambles over the release of FZ/OZ?
So far as we know, the only musicians secured for the tour are Joe Travers (a reject substitute drummer from Duran Duran) and some non-entity called Bill on the bass.
By the way, Ben Watson has a couple of new FZ books out; they’re also on sale at play.com.

Postponed fine. Cancelled – would be disappointing, but probably more so for dz and az.

I got the confirmation email from a mailinglist of the ticket-seller where I’d bought mine. Have no idea about other venues though… Obviously zappa.com isn’t going to get you any the wiser. I suggest writing your ticket-seller and asking. Even then, when I did exactly that about a month ago, they came falling out of the sky — didn’t even know the shows were rumoured to have been postponed in the first place!
