And The Poop It Kept A-Comin’

July 12th, 2005 • Barry's Imaginary Publisher

Hot Poop is four years old today. Now that may not seem like much but in blogging terms, try multiplying that by 10 to get a feel. Amazingly, I’ve yet to make it to step 3 in the lifecycle of bloggers (*). Anyway, thank you for reading, for your continued support and comments.

(*) I fit the “stats whore” profile only insofar that I check my, um, stats quite regularly.

Freak Out in Cucamonga

July 8th, 2005 • Barry's Imaginary Publisher

Adam Fiorenza, one of the guys who’s now wrapping up the Cucamonga documentary, is putting on a concert on July 30th at Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga, California. He writes:

We are calling it “40 Miles East of L.A.: Freak Out in Cucamonga.” It will feature Zappa-inspired compositions, as well as songs performed by original Pal studio musicians. PAUL BUFF will also play a couple of tunes with the bands. The concert will also include documentary footage from the film, as well as personal accounts of Pal musicians who recorded with Paul Buff and Frank Zappa. The Chaffey College Theatre is a small venue, only 250 seats, so tickets will go fast. I’m still working on getting some of the original Mothers of Invention to attend, but I know they have busy schedules.

Full Length Documentary On FZ

July 8th, 2005 • Barry's Imaginary Publisher

There’s an “official” Frank Zappa documentary in the making:

The Zappa family is assembling the first full-length documentary about the legendary musical iconoclast, which they plan to release by early next year. They will debut a condensed version of the film on the tour. The documentary spans the guitarist/bandleader/composer’s diverse career, from early performance footage of songs such as “Inca Roads” and “Call Any Vegetable” through sessions for his final project, 1993’s The Yellow Shark.

Reuters, Not Roiters

July 7th, 2005 • Barry's Imaginary Publisher

Wow, a series of explosions in London’s underground have closed down the entire network, plus several busses a bus exploded in the town’s center. And of course, that’s when people run to Google and do a search for “Roiters”… (screenshot) Let’s hope this is not what I think it might be… BBC site is offline back up right now, first hand reports on MetaFilter.

Icon Hat

July 6th, 2005 • Barry's Imaginary Publisher

In other news, Bono gets his hat back. Bono had told the court he would not have given away the items, valued at £3,500, which he considered had iconic status, particularly the hat. “The point of principle involved was of much greater significance to us than any item of memorabilia,” he said.

Trout Pout

July 6th, 2005 • Barry's Imaginary Publisher

Gallery of the Absurd: A new species of fish has been discovered in Hollywood: the Trout Pout (Collegenus Lip Inflatus). Baffled scientists are at a loss to explain how the mutation occurs, but have observed that it often happens suddenly and without warning among some actresses who have reached a “certain age”.

Well that’s been a while: sorry folks.

Update Late At Night: by some highly serendipitous coincidence, my webhost DreamHost has upped my monthly bandwidth limit with a hundred GB — at no cost whatsoever. The boot is therefor once again available!
