Zappa On Crossfire
I’ve been re-playing this video back and forth: Zappa on Crossfire, ’86 (direct QT link). The John Lofton/FZ confrontation is downright hilarious, and in it FZ uses the, dare I say it, prophetic words “fascist theocracy”. Amazing stuff.

School’s Out
“As soon as she opened the door, we marched in and set up all of our equipment in the hallway outside of Frank Zappa’s bedroom and we started playing. The song’s like halfway through and the door opens and a … Continue reading

Right Time, Right Place
One day in 1995, Joe requested a tour of the legendary Vault. “Just by looking at the names on the boxes,” Travers remembers, “I knew more about the contents of the Vault than anyone working there at the time,” including … Continue reading

The Big Note’s Christmas Edition
You know there’s two ways to updating a site. You either update daily, desperately throwing in silly links to various silly items (that’s what we do here at KUR) — or you save up the stuff that really matters and … Continue reading

WBUR FZ
WBUR aired a FZ special yesterday evening, featuring an interview with Barry Miles (and a snippet of the infamous gig with Lennon/Ono!). It’s now available online. (OT: stupid question I’m sure, but why do all American radio-stations have a “W” … Continue reading

Poll Two
Well that was telling, wasn’t it. Seems the majority of Z-fans who read KUR, are in the 30 to 40 range, closely followed by the 40+ contingent. Beyond/below that, online interest fades. But hey! We have a new poll for … Continue reading

Zappa In Darmstadt
Props to Evaristo for having found “the hidden link between Zappa and the Tropicalia Movement”. The article in question has Rogerio Duprat reminiscing his encounter with FZ in Darmstadt — way back in 1962! Any Portuguese readers that can translate … Continue reading
