  1. Nice to see that you still hold your 26 American readers/contributors in such high esteem, Barry…
Also good to know that EVERYONE else in the world is of one mind regarding the war.
Yesterday, I drove across town on the main thoroughfare. There was a “demonstration” of support for our troops taking place – basically a “honk if you support us” kinda thing… A few of these mindless fucks held signs up to the effect of “For us, or against us?” and “America, love it or leave it”.
Leaving is not an option and I am not “FOR” any of it… I didn’t honk; I shook my head sadly. I was flipped off for my non-compliance.
I get the “anti-American” sentiment right here in my own fucking backyard, thank you very much.
As it rankles me so much, I guess I’ll be back when it’s all over…

  2. Well that sucks Sofa; I’m sorry to hear about what you experienced. For me as a European, it’s not a big thing to be against the war, as a large majority of Europeans are against it (and by Europeans I mean the people, not necessarily the governments). For you guys though, it’s not that simple. It’s obviously a very delicate subject over there with close to no space for nuance or argument. All the more reason why I appreciate your “just not honking” and “shaking your head sadly”. It doesn’t perhaps make a big difference, but in a way, I think it does make a big difference.
Peace bro’, and let’s just hope this sad sad episode is over as soon as possible…

  3. And i was heckled here in belgium for being from the uk. ‘les angalais, les anglais… la guerre irak… pas gentil… ‘, what ? what ? la guerre irak ? ‘…guerre c’est jamais bon’. Well yes, i’ll just mention that to Mr Blair and the delta of the tigris will fill with flowers.
