About half an hour ago, my unemployed nextdoor neighboor rang my doorbell and asked me if by chance I hadn’t erroneously received her wellfare check in my mailbox. I did vaguely recall shredding up several letters because they were not adressed to me, and throwing them away. Half a ton of cat litter and expired TV-dinners later, the wellfare check has been returned to the rightful owner. All three shreds of it. And they say I ain’t got no heart, haah… Time to hit the shower.

This has been a presentation of the “Slices Of Barry’s Life”-trust, in association with the “Because There’s No Zappa News At The Moment”-committee.
Shredding your neighbours mail, now that’s harsh. Arthur anderson would be proud of you.
I confess, i thought it was harsh.
Though while i’m reposting – i can’t figure it, why didn’t you just deliver it in the first place ?
The mail was adressed to her husband’s name. I only know her name… I get stray mail all the time from people who used to live at my address; the postal people themselves told me to shred any mail I get that is not addressed to me…
I get stray mail all the time from people who used to live at my address… Doesn’t your neighbour live at a different address. Or if there is a single address for a number of accommodations, wouldn’t you expect mail that wasn’t addressed to you. Still can’t figure it.
I have the same problem. We get mail to our address from people who haven’t lived at our address for probably five, ten years. Now we are getting bills and threats for people that lived in the same house as us in Cleveland, because her last name happened to be the same as mine and they must not have bothered to forward their mail.It gets to be a real burden.
My welfare check is direct deposited to my bank.
Well the only answer i can figure is that the neighbour recently moved, or the check was mis-addressed. Another loose end…
Ok, to disclose the mystery entirely: my housenumber is 3B, theirs is 3. Don’t ask how that came about, but you can figure the confusion this brings about…
