St Louis ’77

This week’s Friday Boot: Washington University, St Louis 2 October 1977. Although the sound quality leaves something to be desired (ahem), there’s plenty to enjoy here. Just a couple of highlights: FZ’s monster solo in an instrumental version of Conehead, and some great improvisations in Wild Love. Enjoy!

Yep, that was his university. He sang and played guitar for Frank that night backstage.

Is it just me, or is Wild Love 1 hour and 40 minutes long?

No kidding. I don’t know what it is about 1977, but between the Grateful Dead and Zappa there were some monster concerts. Yet another reason why this might be my favorite Zappa lineup.

very strange, if I play it in Media Player, it’s only 14 minutes, but on my Itunes/Ipod it’s 1h 40. Bizzare to say the least
But this band are undoubtedly my favourite band he played with, shame there’s only one release with this band though
