Well, why don’t you read for yourself:
Today, he wears perfectly creased form-fitting jeans and an unbuttoned-to-below-the-sternum silk shirt; the look is no less immaculate than the one the now-52-year-old sported before he came back to the D.C. area almost 15 years ago. Meadows likes to keep his clothes immaculate. He likes to keep his hair immaculate, too: His chestnut mane is cut into a one-of-a-kind half-gladiator-helmet, half-California-swinger style with strategical blond highlights.

Ooh La La!
The French have been voted the world’s most unfriendly nation by a landslide in a new British poll published. They were also voted the most boring and most ungenerous. The Germans have no to reason to celebrate the damning verdict. They came second on all three counts. Italy was voted the world’s most cultured nation with the best cuisine, while the United States was named the most unstylish with the worst food.

Phew. I managed to restore the forum to a back-up from May 19 (CET). At first glance, all previously deleted threads are back. Depending on the exact time at which the actual back-up took place, any posts made after it (perhaps 1 or 2), will have gone AWOL — but that’s peanuts compared to the amount of threads that had gone lost. So forum-dwellers: have a look at the boards and if any of the posts you made on May 19 are gone (most probably they’re not), well, you’ll have to post them again.

Last Friday night, one motherf@#!ing idiot thought it would be a good idea to spam the KUR forums. This asshat took the time to register and went on to post over 170 messages promoting some rancid pornsite. By the time I’d got up and had my first cup of coffee, the damage was done.
I then tried to delete these entries by going straight to the database, as there were just too many to be deleting them via the forum’s admin. In the process, I appear to have also deleted entire threads. Yes: never do anything that drastic on one cup of coffee, and yes: always back up first. Lessons learned.
Anyway, all is not lost, or so I hope. I’ve contacted my webhost with a request to revert the forum’s database to a backed up version from around Friday morning. Until I get a (hopefully positive) response from them, the forum will remain in “Maintenance Mode”. Stay tuned…

I dunno how it is where you’re at but outhere, it’s been raining cats and dogs all day week. What better circumstances to scan Relix Magazine’s April/May Zappa special, eh? So here it is: Zappa In Relix Magazine.

Well duh, this hadn’t crossed my radar until Bob Again mentioned it: the official ZPZ Tour Blog. They really should have enabled comments though…

Nice set of pictures of ZPZ in Amsterdam, from a couple of days ago. If anyone else has put their ZPZ photos online, hesitate not and drop me a note.
Edit: this one’s even nicer! (See comments)

This week’s Humo Magazine has an article on the Zappa’s featuring interviews with Dweezil, Ahmet and Gail. I may be putting up a translated version later. For now though, here’s their intro, which I found rather amusing:
On 15 November 1973 a memorable interview took place: [...] on that day Marc Didden had a long conversation with Frank Zappa. You can easily find that interview on the internet. Just google “Marc Didden Frank Zappa” and click the first link you come across.
A very good idea, that — thanks for the plug, Humo.

Woops! Life’s a box of chocolates indeed:
Several whistles instead of applause were all that greeted the end of Ron Howard’s 125-million-dollar film, and worse than that, the 2,000-strong audience even burst out laughing at the movie’s key moment.

Video: FZ on the Arsenio Hall show, ‘89. Many of you will have already seen this, but still a fun clip to watch.

Now that ZPZ is finally on the road, I figured it would be interesting to open a thread where those of you who have attended any of the concerts could give your opinion, review, setlist, etc. This evening’s Copenhagen, next is Oslo, then Stockholm, Düsseldorf, Berlin, etc. I’m sure there’s KUR readers in each of those cities — so tell us how “your” gig turned out in the comments… Don’t forget to mention date and venue!

Zappa Plays Zappa kicks off in Amsterdam this evening! I’ll be reading the Dutch Zappa-list with more than usual attention in the following days…

Remember Massimo Bassoli, the guy who appears on Dub Room Special picking his nose; the guy who performs “Tengo Na Minchia Tanta” in Uncle Meat (The Movie)? He apparently got arrested yesterday on charges of fraud. Article in completely non-understandable Italian, so if any of you Italians out there care to translate, we’d be much obliged. (via evaristo)
