Okay okay so Dub Room Special, the DVD, was released on October 18. Isn’t it funny that instead of zappa.com giving you the news, one needs to google up Eagle Rock Entertainment in order to find out?

I got it from Amazon.com. They delivered it in a couple of days instead of the two months zappa.com took last time I ordered anything from there. The notes stated that the complete concerts that this show was made from are slated for release. I won’t be holding my breath. Here’s hoping that Eagle Vision will at least release all the old out of print Honker Home Video vhs tapes on dvd.

I’m confused. I always thought the DRS had that 16mm footage from the Roxy (ie ‘Roxy & Elsewhere’). Is that wrong?

i got it from tower records the day of release.
its great except i wish they would of released better songs than cocaine decisions. otherwise great, and cannot wait for the cd release. honker does need to release all on dvd. and zappa.com does need to be updated on a regular basis. man, this just makes me more thirsty for more live releases.

It’s footage from the KCET (or whatever, LA public television) broadcast from 1974 (I believe) intercut with Halloween 1981 footage and goofing around in the dub room of the video company where it was cut together. I think the Roxy stuff (at least as represented on the “Roxy and Elsewhere” live album represents the slightly larger previous incarnation of this band, although it was pretty much the same material. I would have bought it the day of release if there was someplace around here besides Wal-Mart or Best Buy that sold music videos. That’s why I use Amazon and such like.
And what is the deal with the Barfco-Swill page at zappa dot com?

Awesome, did not know this was out. I was on zappa.com like last week and saw no news of this…very odd. So, does this have any other material on it besides what the original release had? I don’t think that had ‘complete’ concerts by any stretch, but I do really love the ‘74 footage!!
