You start off with Any Kind of Pain Dip and some Baked Bean Boogie. Next you may fancy some Latex Solar Beef Stew, or a nicely seasoned Lumpy Gravy. Onward to the Eggs-centrifugal Forz Cassarole! Iron Sausage Balls to top it all off.

Seen in the newspapers!
Dummy Up!
Video excerpts from the “Dummy Up” routine, a classic feature of the Best Band Zappa Ever Put Together (the Roxy band, naturally). Now if only someone could explain to me how the hell I can get this to work on Mac…
Peepers Part Two
It’s way past midnight (hope you’re satisfied Bert), it’s time for Peepers Part Two.
A Game of Rummy
“Oh, oh, I’m so scared Belgium will prosecute my ass, or any ass willing enough to kiss my ass for that matter! Hahaha.
I mean: prosecute us? Moi? Hey! I’m an American!“
It’s from America!
Dennis’ wonderful Zappa painting has arrived at Barry Towers!
It was delivered while I was at work today, so the mailman dropped it off at my neighbours. The minute I get home, there comes the neighbour, puffing as she carries the big-ass cardboard package.
“It’s from America!”, she utters, her eyes wide open, revealing a hint of suppressed suspicion.
So now I’m stuck with a neighbour who probably thinks I’m ordering rubber sex dolls from some exotic American location. As Dennis put it: “In some circles, that would be more socially acceptable than a Zappa painting…”
WTF, so to speak: Black Tongue
Apparently Gene Simmons will be releasing a solo album which has one track based on a Zappa-riff. “The idea is to have Dweezil and Ahmet Zappa, and everybody, to come play on this track called “Black Tongue”, to take Frank’s voice, and make a new song this way. It’s very dark, very crimsonian, à la In the Court of the Crimson King in 7/8.” A number of people are invited to come in and sing, such as – get this – Axl Rose.
Please stand back. AaaaaAAaaaAAargh!
Wonderful Big Notes
All you ThingFish afficionado’s might like this entire ThingFish Premix download, while those curious of english FZ tribute band Muffin Men, might appreciate this concise MM compilation. Yes: TheBigNote has updated its Musibrarium once again…
Let’s make the water turn black
This right here looks like it’s the closest thing to what Frank Zappa would ever consider a religion. Who knows? Maybe he’s an honorary member. Heed and obey the Commandments of the Coffee Clan!
Blix Krieg
Hans Blix, in the Guardian, accuses:
– The Bush administration of leaning on his inspectors to produce more damning language in their reports;
– “Some elements” of the Pentagon of being behind a smear campaign against him; and
– Washington of regarding the UN as an “alien power” which they hoped would sink into the East river.
Oh well, just another brainless longhaired peacenik, right?
The Purple Cucumber
On april 30 1995 a Frank Zappa memorial concert took place in Antwerp featuring music from Peter Vermeersch, and performed by the BRTN Philharmonic Orchestra. It was dubbed The Purple Cucumber. For several reasons the recording failed to get released – until recently. An interview by the producer of this release (Zjakki Willems) with Frank Zappa related to The Yellow Shark, can be found right here.
The one with the rubber doll and the exotic fruit
Embarrassing stories. Because you’re not the only one it happens to.
Jesus thinks you’re a…
“Dear Josh,
I’m sorry, but I agree with your folks. The Bible doesn’t say if we listen to lesbians that we will become lesbians, but the Bible is clear in it’s warnings to us.” Phew, am I glad FZ was straight!
Budapest Video
So, you’ve had your audio fix, how about some video? Here’s a 10 minute clip of Zappa playing a live solo in Budapest, 1991 (this was one of his last public appearances). There’s more clips on the main page.
