Cooooool! That’s a really boss list. Dr. Sharl, you’re the most!
Tho the fact that the list is published by a high school web site makes it a bit suspect. For example, “weed” has always meant ‘weed’, and was never a term coined for tobacco cigarettes…

That’s weird…Either the list is “a light” version, or maybe weed was used at that time just for tobacco and then lately changed meaning to the usual weed?? I’ve seen two dictionaries that mentions weed either for tobacco and marihuana. Perhaps the word changed meaning as time went by? When the use of marihuana was more, say, massive? Notice that some words doesn’t have a slang version today -i believe-, like “letter”, listed as “epistle” (a word i simply adore :-) But it doesn’t have a slang version now because it’s not in use anymore. Almost no one mentions “letters”…they have been replaced by “e-mails”…
What is a “rodder”?? Couldn’t figure out…
btw, love your Jelly Roll, dmt! Radioactive! :-)
well razz my berries !
I think a rodder is a motorhead – someone who soups up their vehicle and races against others as in the James Dean film Rebel Without A Cause.
I too have my suspicions about the authenticity of some of these words.
Okay, I wasn’t even a twinkle in my mother’s eye back in the 50’s, but as an American (and particularly fond of the English language), I must say I have heard every one of these expressions at one point in time. For me, the question is if all of these terms really come from the 50’s – “spaz” seems a touch too modern….
