No More Project/Object?

Some rather bizarre (unconfirmed) news has been posted on the forums concerning Project/Object. It would appear that Gail Zappa’s lawyers are having big fun: “I know that the venue received a faxed letter from both ASCAP and the Zappa Trust lawyers threatening lawsuits if the venue let the band play. These letters went out to selected venues for the rest of the West Coast Leg of the tour and elsewhere.” Anyone hear of this?

  1. I think this terrible. Excellent bands like P/O are keeping Zappa’s music alive, much more than making profits of it. They are promoting it! So, one more time, i don’t get the ZFT. I wonder if there’s something we, as zappafans, can do about this…

  2. almost seems like gail wants to destroy her husband’s legacy. went against her husband’s wishes to keep the music, never released anything to store, outrageous prices, little to no promotion, and endless lies to the consumers. now, shutting down all the bands trying to keep his music alive. it’s so frustrating, and disheartening.

  3. I hope this isn’t true. I’ve seen this band five or six times and I consider them to be a national (global?) treasure. Didn’t Frank personally ask Ike to continue playing this music? I think Gail’s priorities are totally f%#@!* up!!!! Keeping this music alive should be her first priority- not the almighty dollar. She’s trying to rob people of the opportunity to hear her husband’s music played. I was almost ready to forgive her vindictive Halloween display, but now I must say, “Gail, what the F*%# are you thinking??????!!!!!!!!”

  4. Didn’t Gail use to read this page? I’d like to hear from her and read her take on the subject… Don’t bash her…
