Tribute Beers

We’ve had the Freak Out Ale, but did you know about the Brother Thelonious, the Gonzo Porter or Lenny’s Bittersweet R.I.P.A.? I’ll leave you with a little quote from the article:

Lagunitas co-founder Tony Magee has been a Frank Zappa fan since studying his compositions in a college course. He plans a new Zappa tribute beer every nine to 10 months as anniversaries of successive albums occur.

Yes, you read that right…

  1. Is it just me that finds this very strange? Zappa coffee or fags would make sense, but beer?

  2. We’re not alone in finding this a little strange.

It’s a fitting tribute that he plans an ambitious release schedule for several beers. If this brewer has truly grasped the essence of Zappa, many of his beers will be released frustrating behind schedule, and some, like the “Chalk Pie” and “Crush All Boxes” lagers and “Collected Improvisations of the Mothers of Invention” mini keg will remain in the lager cellar and only will be available from wonderful, hip street winos. Also, the “Remastered Cruisin’ with Reuben and the Jets” Raspberry Lambic will be shite

  3. Heyyyyyyy … shouldn’t this’ve been called “You Are What You Whizz”?

or, er, “You Are What You Fizz”?!

    —– just asking!

  4. THIS JUST IN FROM GAIL’S RANCID BOUTIQUE:

    SHMERTZ GOLDEN ROT GUT BEER!

    What an aroma!
This is the best I ever got off!
What can I say about this elixir?
    Try it on steaks!
    Cleans nylons!
    Small craft warnings!
