Neil Young: Into The Blu
Ol’ Neil has released his long awaited “Archives” — on Blu-Ray discs no less:
Thrasher’s Wheat has a good recap of the pro’s and con’s of Blu-Ray technology, as well as fan’s reactions:
I can completely understand why some people are very leery and upset, it’s just that I expect Neil to be unfathomably perverse. It’s been a very long time since any decision he’s made has actually fazed me in the slightest. My default mode with Mr. Young is to assume that I have absolutely no idea what he will do next, or what he will choose to release.
Sounds familiar! 🙂
Baltimore Or Bust
My inbox just about exploded this morning with news that the city of Baltimore is to accept a statue of FZ as a gift to the city:
Until they met last night, some members of the Baltimore Public Art Commission, which voted unanimously to accept the gift of the bronze sculpture – valued at about $50,000 – were also unaware of Zappa’s connection to Charm City.
However, the donors of the bust, who come from much farther afield – in fact, from a nation Zappa never visited – are well aware of his background.
That’d be Vilnius, Lithuania, of course.
Lo and behold: GS “avidly supports placing the sculpture in Baltimore, where her late husband’s quirky views of life fit with the work of such great local artists as John Waters.”…
Ike Willistrat
Ike Willis is putting his Fender Stratocaster on sale. The Strat has Ike’s signature on it and will cost you $420.00 USD (plus shipping).
Includes strap, extra set of Fender Bullet Strings (signed by Ike) and Fender Gig Bag!
I hope all is well with Ike…
Up, Up & Away En Sus Beautiful Balloons
File under Stranger Than Fiction:
A Brazilian priest is missing after he drifted out to sea while trying to set a record for a flight using helium-filled party balloons, authorities said on Tuesday.
De Carli, who flew around 55 miles (90 kilometers) before losing contact, had wanted to draw attention to the work of his parish in Paranagua, which targets mostly truck drivers who transport goods to and from the port.
Umm… bananas!
