Flo & Eddie: Yes No Yes No

Thursday, July 21st, 2005 by Barry's Imaginary Publisher

It’s Bring On The Rumour Machine Time again — Idiot Bastard notes:

Despite the appearance of an ad in MOJO stating that Flo & Eddie will be on the Zappa Plays Zappa tour, Mark Volman tells me, “From the horses mouth, I tell you with clarity: NO deal yet. Sorry.” Howard Kaylan adds, “As far as I know, Flo and Eddie will not be appearing on the Zappa tour. Unless things alter drastically, the brothers seem to favour other eras of their dad’s career instead. Better check their sites to be sure.”

Anything to make us write about Zappa Plays Zappa I guess…

Bad Album Covers. Again.

Even MORE bad album covers. Yummie.

Square Snapshots

Wednesday, July 20th, 2005 by Barry's Imaginary Publisher

Square America: vintage snapshots and vernacular photography documenting American life from the late 1940s through the early 1970s (and a gallery goldmine for Dr Sharleena’s collages, I think!).

Paintball

Imagine an ordinary baseball…Now imagine that same baseball with over 18,960 coats of paint on it. Getting the picture? Good, because that’s exactly what my wife, Glenda and I have done for the past 28 years.

Woodism

Wednesday, July 20th, 2005 by Barry's Imaginary Publisher

The Church of Ed Wood:

The basic premise of Woodism coincides with what we believe was the basic premise of Ed Wood himself, which is the constant search for happiness. There are no specific practices other than to constantly be proud of who you are, accept others, and don’t let anyone tell you what you should or shouldn’t do.

Impaled Northern Moonforest

Tuesday, July 19th, 2005 by Barry's Imaginary Publisher

About time for some Acoustic Black Metal, I say. Impaled Northern Moonforest is just that, carrying such songtitles as “Entranced By The Northern Impaled Necrowizard’s Blasphemous Incantation Amidst The Agonizing Abomination Of THe Lusting Necrocorpse” and the equally enchanting “Lustfully Worshipping The Inverted Moongoat While Skiing Down The Inverted Necromountain Of Necrodeathmortum”.

Bit o’ Low Culture

Monday, July 18th, 2005 by Barry's Imaginary Publisher

In merry contrast to Balint’s previous post, I would like to mention that Ed Wood’s “Plan 9 From Outer Space” — often billed as the worst movie ever made — is now available for online viewing, free of charge.

John Cassavetes - the director

Sunday, July 17th, 2005 by Balint

Rowlands (his wife) has stated that the role of improvisation in Cassavetes films has frequently been misunderstood. Though Cassavetes allowed and even encouraged his actors to ad lib while filming, only very rarely, she says, were entire scenes filmed as they were being improvised. Rather, Rowlands reports, the actors would improvise from Cassavetes’ scripts during rehersals, then Cassavetes would rewrite scenes based on the improvisations.

Really familiar way of creating, don’t you think? I just love this man, I think he’s one of the best directors of the XXth century. I’m lucky enough to have five of his movies - unfortunately Husbands (my favourite) is not available here yet. Check out, you’ll love his works!

Not Bloody Likely

Thanks to some readers who pointed out that this week’s Friday Boot took place on April 19, not 18. Regardless, here’s Part Two.

For the apostrophe-obsessed, here’s one worth a chuckle or two: the alt.possessive.its.has.no.apostrophe newsgroup.
