Napoleon: This Is What Frank Zappa Heard – Just In Case You Were Wondering

News from the Idiot Bastard, that might bring some tiny smile on your face:

…in December, Napoleon Murphy Brock will release This Is What Frank Zappa Heard – Just In Case You Were Wondering. Recorded live at The Red Noodle in Waikiki, Hawaii on 8 August 1973 on a TEAC 4-track reel-to-reel, the CD has been digitally enhanced and “will put you at the next table to where Frank was sitting, and you will experience what Frank Zappa experienced and what later was described as ‘the audition of a lifetime’”. By pre-ordering now, you can save yourself shipping charges, so you’ll pay just 15 Euros on its release. Email nmubrock@pacbell.net for more.

Of course you know this beautiful interview already in which Nappy tells the whole story (Idiot Bastard, again, from 2002).

  1. A nice and really warm interview. I saw NMB in 02/1976 in Hamburg, Germany. He was dancing like mad and played the say at the same time, he was crawling the stage floor and played sax at the same time. He seems to have a real nice personality.

  2. It would be nice to have a compilation of Zappa band member auditions, maybe Don Pardo can do some segues?

    Nappy says:
“will put you at the next table to where Frank was sitting, . . .”

Do we get to hear Frank’s order to the waiter?
    “That’s one green hocker in a greyhound locker . . .”

  3. brilliant interview.
in fact, i was lucky enough to have been invited for an evening with napoleon after he played in a church in hamburg (2009), but there we talked about philosophy and exercises that keep us fit. we didnt talk very much about music and his time with zappa, so this interview covered a lot of questions that i would have liked to have asked napoleon.
the funny thing is that when you have the previlege to come so close to such a great personality, you tend not to act too inquisitive.
napoleon’s a really great fellow with a very positive aura.
