Rashied Ali died? Damn, I just learned about it. Thanks, media idiots! I feel very fortunate to have seen him play a couple times recently. His drumming fit perfectly with John Coltrane’s later efforts and with Alice Coltrane’s music, too.
As for Les Paul, his music might have been square, but his inventions pretty much made FZ’s work possible. He invented multitrack recording before Paul Buff, didn’t he?
