SO
here beginneth the lesson it what I a true believer doth believe when it gets down to the nitty gritti of FZ and MOI wonderness.
1.
ANY
FZ album and sometimes concert which involved Tommy Mars and his fake keyboard horns should be avoided at all costs.
2.
FZ
did his best albums with the 3 (or 4) versions of the MOTHERS OF INVENTION.
3. In total
CONTRADICTION
of 2 his best album is HOT RATS.
4. FZ best guitar solo on record is in
'DID YA GET ANY ONYA'
 from Weasles Ripped  My Flesh.
5. weel there are more but I ll just kick off with these
non conraversial

well glad you all agree so far... here's some more
5. the Zappa family trust are making
a pigs ear
of the re-release program not including vinyl is a crime against art.
6. the same trust are seemingly unable to find any
interesting concert
material to release there is enough in the archives for a DICKSPICKS type series...
7. when
FZ plays Jazz
it is absolutely rubbish and contains no merit whatsoever listen to MILES DAVIS instead.
8. post 1970's all FZ Classical work was far more i
nteresting
 than his Rock work.
9 The 3 albums from the final tour are fun but the
cold-antiseptic
nature of the playing somes up where FZ went wrong in later years...
10. ZPZ are ok but DWEEZIL has
zero stage presence
and is the weakest link!! bring back AHMET!!

Well.... I enjoy Tommy Mars' playing very much. Infact the 1981/82 band is my favourite and that has a lot to do with Mars.

By 1981 Tommy Mars, Ed Mann and Steve Vai had been playing with Zappa for five or six years and I believe that some of Zappa's best music was written with these three musicians in his mind: Envelopes, Drowning Witch, Whats New In Baltimore?, Moggio, Sinister Footwear, Teenage Prostitute and others. I could be - naturally - completely wrong, however, but I enjoy Tommy Mars' playing of Zappa's music very much.

No probhlem with STEVE's guitar and Ed's congas but those fake keyboard horns put a hurt on my ears!! Listen to Joe's Garage ACT11 which is far superiopr to anything from that 80's band and Frank's guitar playing was still inspired rather than hackneyed...
