Google Ads

Hey guys,

I've decided to give google ads a try on the wiki pages. I've tried to make them as unobtrusive as possible, both by color and size (limited to 2 text ads underneath the "Special Features").

At this point I'm not sure whether I'll keep them. If some of you, particularly those of you who contribute a lot overthere, feel there is no place for them, please do let me know.

However, bare in mind that it's those ads (over at Hotpoop et all) that contribute to my webhosting bills...

Normally I would object to such things but as I did not even notice them perhaps I could let them go this time.  We seem to be advertising a Spam Filter: Should we order one?

The Google Analytics thing seems to slow the Wiki down to a crawl at times - hate to think what it looks like on a dial-up connection.

Really? Hadn't noticed that but then again, I don't spend half the amount of time there that you do! Are you sure it's the GA script? I added it just yesterday.

Nope. Must be something else. The hickups started some 3 weeks ago (best guess).

My Mac has been out of action for a couple of weeks (it was the cleaning that did it ) and I was noticing it before then - was it a global kur.com thing rather than a wiki thing? The delay was definitely a link to google analytics.

Perhaps the spammers will get tired of waiting and go elsewhere

Google Analytics is still in the process of "gathering information" since I've installed it. That probably accounts for much of the slowness... should be over pretty soon though.

(btw Dunk, how did cleaning your desk cause your Mac to go legs up?)
