I sent my address on 9th June and then, I have to admit, forgot about it. I was checking things a couple of days ago and found that this should have been with me way back. I PM'd Kilgore Trout to see if he'd actually sent it. I haven't had a reply from him. Almost immediately afterwards I got another vine in the post that I have to send on to him so I PM'd him again for his address. I'll keep you informed as to what happens. My apologies for not keeping on top of this.

Just so those still waiting know, I've been in touch with Sinister Midget and he'll get a fresh set of discs burned from his back-ups as soon as he gets a chance. This vine should be moving again before too long.

This revived vine is on its way to LobsterBoy

I didn't have the original .AIFF files, only the Windows files from the conversion I ran (probably MP3). Anyway, that is what is on the DVD

This is in the post to Detonator so, all being well, those of you further down the line shouldn't have too long to wait.

Many thanks to SinisterMidget.

Hi folks,

Just a quick message to let you know that this vine has arrived safely in the UK.

I've chased up Bart for an address and I'll send it on as soon as I can.

If you've followed this thread carefully you will know that the original 3DVDs of .aiff files have gone missing and in their place is a single DVD of mp3 files of all the shows listed in the initial post.

(I'm still hoping that the original DVDs will turn up as I prefer to avoid lossy formats myself - but thats another story)

However, things now get complicated:

The "replacement" DVD is now accompanied by a number of extra audio discs containing a number of complete (?) shows. A couple of these are identified on the discs but others aren't - and I'm not sure exactly what these are!

I'm also not sure who added them to the vine either so I'll take this opportunity to ask if the generous originator(s) can enlighten us all.

It maybe gets a little complicated as I think at least one of the shows contains bonus tracks (Maybe more - I obviously haven't had time to listen through any of these properly yet).

The downside is that some of the discs are recorded "Track at Once" so they suffer from 2 second gaps between the tracks which make a mess of all the live segues. I don't know how many of the shows are affected. Could they be sourced from mp3's?

I'm sure everyone who's signed up for the vine would like to know what to expect from it.

Maybe members who had the original might want to sign up for it again if there's something amongst the extras that they'd like to get hold of.

Cheers for now,
Les.

The story here is that when SinisterMidget agreed to re-launch this vine he kindly included these discs with the extra shows. They came from a trade he had been involved in. The discs had apparently gone astray in the post so the other trader burned and sent him a replacement set. Then the original discs turned up, having only been delayed not lost. He sent them to me saying to do whatever I thought best with them. I made myself copies and passed them on with the original vine. A bonus for those like me who'd had to wait for their Halloween Treats.

The shows are

720922 Felt Forum NYC
740216 Berkeley
780215 Berlin
780225 Wanna Buy Some Acid (Boot) (Neunkirchen Am Brand)
880419 London

As I recall, the discs themselves were not that well labelled but were in paper sleeves which made it clear what they were. If it's now impossible to tell what's what, then knowing the shows involved should make it easy enough to identify each disc and maybe write on the disc this time.

Halloween Treats is an excellent vine in its own right, so if anyone fancies these extras they'd surely be happy with it as well. You have a point about people who've already had the vine. I guess if any of them want these they could PM me and I'd run them off copies. If a lot of them did we could start it off as a vine in its own right. For me it just seemed like a really nice move on SinisterMidget's part and I thought I'd pass the happiness along. If I'd been really conscientious I'd have burned them all onto one data CD and got all the tracks labelled properly and stuff, but at that point my main motivation was to get the thing moving along as quickly as possible.

Maybe I should have just kept them to myself and not confused things but I was well pleased to get them and thought the rest of you would be too.

Thanks for the response, Lobsterboy.

I can now let you know a bit more about these discs:

ALL of them are recorded TAO so 2 second gaps appear throughout every show.

The Wembley show is missing 3 tracks: Torture Medley, Stick Together and Montana (about 20mins+).

The Berlin show misses the last 7 tracks (Dong to Muffin) and instead an early part of the show appears twice!

The Neunkirchen am Brand show is complete (I think) although 2 tracks turn up twice! At the end of the second disc there is a series of extra instrumentals/solos. I haven't a clue where these originate from - possibly from the compilation circulating on another thread (the name of which escapes me).

The Berkeley show appears complete although 3 tracks from Disc 1 appear again at the start of Disc 2.

and finally....

The Felt Forum appears complete. However, note that the show is just over 70mins long and I have it listed as 90mins. I can't spot anything missing from the track list I have though.

To be honest all the shows are flawed and it seems crazy to send 10 discs around the globe in this form. However, some members might want to hear what is available and the extras (although flawed) are at least welcome as "samplers".

What I propose to do is this:

I'll convert all the shows to mp3 files and remove the tracks that appear twice and out of sequence.

I can insert the 3 missing Wembley tracks (coincidently I already have a flawed copy of these - also recorded TAO).

I'll then re-burn the DVD-R with all of the original and additional shows (including bonuses) - and should still have room for something else from my own collection.

I'm hoping to be able to do this by the middle of next week and I'll then send the vine to Bart.

I hope this is acceptable to everyone.

Cheers,
Les.

OK Folks - sorted.

Take a look at the sister thread entitled "Halloween Tricks" (thats conceptual continuity for ya!)

This particular thread can now rest - unless there is someone out there who can re-start the original 3DVD format and let the lossless versions loose again.

Les.
