Wiki Screen Saver
« on: May 31, 2005, 08:51:54 AM »

Exploring the delights of Mac OS X (10.4) Tiger I came upon Quartz Composer - a nifty little number that lets you do fancy graphics stuff while blindfolded and with one hand tied behind your back.

I put together a Wiki Jawaka Screen Saver - mostly because that was what I had to hand on my desktop Wink

It is only version 0.0001 - I will add some more images and sound too!
You can get it from here.

As it will only work with Mac OS X (10.4) Tiger  I made a movie too so non Mac users can appreciate it's wonderfulness Smiley

Always wanted to do that.

Er, ironically, the movie doesn't work on my present setup (osx 10.2.Cool! It says it needs additional Quicktime software which is currently not available? Oh well - wait 'til my G5 arrives (due soon!)...

Ahh!  Quick Time 7!

It was 88K it is now 5.6MB but should work with antiquated systems.

If you are on a dial up account it is not worth the download Wink

Are you aware that the WikiJawaka logo is copyrighted though? Wink

Hey that RSS screensaver thingie is cool. Does it actually grab KUR's RSS, or is it just you that manually stuck the latest posts in there?

Me and my Mac are insulted now Sad

This is a live RSS feed being pumped into the screen saver.  The editor gives you a bunch of patches such as RSS Feed that you layout on a grid then drag little bits of wire (this is the fun part) from the output of one patch into the input for another patch until you are connected to the top level displayed stuff.  All done in real time - pumping live video onto a rotating cube with some other stuff swirling around behind it is sure to impress the neighbours.
