Layout and headings
« on: April 27, 2005, 04:46:10 PM »

Would it be a good idea (as it is my idea it obviously will be Wink) to have a section/category of templates of pages with just the headings (eg Lyrics / Players On This Song / Albums In Which This Song Has Appeared / Notes About This Song / CC In This Song) so contributors can cut and paste a fresh standard layout without having to check with a previous entry to see what headings should be included?

Also...

Should the Albums In Which This Song Has Appeared heading be changed to Records Which Have Included This Song (or some such) to accommodate tracks that have been issued as singles as well as album tracks?
eg Who Are The Brain Police which just has the singles tacked onto the end.

Done, see http://wiki.killuglyradio.com/index.php/Templates
I'll have to add this link to the frontpage so it's easily found. I personally keep these subheadings in a couple of textfiles for easy copy/pasting, but might as well copy/paste from that page Smiley

The template's subheading has been changed accordingly. Of course, when editing existing Track pages the subheading will need to be changed...

One small remark: up until now, track pages had a [[[Category:Tracks]]] tag, but not a [[[Category:Discography]]] tag. Putting a [[[Category:Discography]]] tag on those pages (as it is suggested in the template) will intermingle them with the albums on the Discography page (http://wiki.killuglyradio.com/index.php/Category:Discography).

Doing so, tends to confuse people. To quote Duncan (01:19, 9 Apr 2005 PDT) at the Wiki: "Little House, Nine Types and WPLJ (possibly others) are listed with the albums although categorised as Tracks. Should they be (some obscure Belgian compilation perhaps) or is this some techno problem?"

The "problem" was solved by removing the [[[Category:Discography]]] tag from those pages...

It's a feature, it's not a bug... Wink So, here's a tough decision to make: "completeness" (in the Discography section) vs. "user compliance"... One option is as good/bad as the other...

Note: the problem of the disappearing "double brackets" - on this here forum - seems to be solved when using 3 of them: when you use 2 of them only 1 displays, but when you use 3 of them 2 will display... Maybe it will blow-up the system entirely, but at least this problem is solved...  Grin

Correct, and so I've updated the relevant pages...
