I was in the process of "narrowing down" this tasty sucker when I discovered that my disk #2 was blank (#1 has been completed). I can only assume that the rest of you have had no problem with disk 2?

Part two is going your way since last monday morning, Sofa!
Sorry about the delay (i guess it's because of good news: finnally i've got a job! thus my lack of time lately).
Unfortunately i can't reply to any of vrnzr queries, maybe you can, later, when you receive it?
It's an excellent show, i'm glad you guys are enjoying.

Hey Sharl!
I wasn't like trying to air out my laundary with that post; I was actually curious if anyone experienced what I experienced... I look forward to getting back to work on the project.
Congratulations on the job! I am SO happy for you!
But then, I knew that someone with your talents was not going to be unemployed for too long...
The best to you and Barry!

Last week I had some time to listen to the Zappathon program - at least the first part of it. Here's the tracklist - continuing what vrnzr started a few weeks ago.

For me it was a surprise that there is plenty of music and (relatively) few talks.
So here's my list - there might be some mistakes here and there, but I think most of it is corect.

Heee-eey Balint!

Thank you SO much for this much needed and very well done list.

SOFA, since the last Part 2 i've sent to you didn't work, may i suggest you to subscribe to the vine now? I believe the vined version is now sliced...

May I echo Sharl's comment Balint: impressive track-slicing info!
Does this mean the Zappathon 2004 vine is now being spread in this sliced format?

erh... if I may add these few remarks (&questions) to Bálint's tracklist part 1:

00:41:24   "I Can't Stand It" '71
yeah, right, it sounds more like some Flo&Eddie rather than from the "Baby Snakes" era.
Would anybody know where from? Perhaps a snippet from Playground Psychotics ?? Not sure...

01:57:10   Dog Breath Variations (Uncle Meat - Vinyl Version?)
The (instrumental) version heard here is said to be the B-side to the 7"single "My Guitar wants to kill Your Mama" (played later in Zappathon Part 2)

01:59:53   Talk
The music that can be heard behind this Talk portion is from the (Swedish) Omnibus Wind Ensemble - Music By Frank Zappa album, beautifully arranged Zappa pieces for large wind ensemble & percussion. The tracks played are Dog Breath Variations - Uncle Meat, Sinister Footwear, 2nd Movement and Brown Shoes Don't Make It. I doubt if this album is still available.

02:23:29   Cruising For Burgers ('71)
from the Montreux show ('SwissCheese' & 'Fire')

anyway, if anybody knows a few answers to my questions asked a month earlier... thank you thank you thank you kindly in advance...  Wink

Hi vrnzr - hi everyone,
unfortunately I could listen do this while working, so I couldnt go into details... So it also menas that I (still?....) cannot answer your question - I still do not see, whether I will be able to slice those files up - I just had time for listenning them once, and was writing heavily - while working... :-)

So it can be a first step, an "under progress" variation.

Hi there Guys (and Galls),

Holidays are over, back to work: How to cut Zappathon 2004 - part 1:

Copy and paste the text at the end of this posting into a text file and save it as "Zappathon 2004 part 1.cue" (exactly the letters between brackets).

Go on the internet and find a MP3 cutter, I personally use a program called Musicutter 0.7.1. You can find it at http://musicutter.szm.sk/. The download contains the program and a good help file. It does not add the MP3 tags.

The basics are:
- in the software, select the Zappathon 2004 (pt.1).mp3 file (or whatever you renamed it to)
- select a destination
- use the import from file button to import the cue file saved previously
- press the 'cut now!' button and after a couple of minutes you have a nice selction of split files.

A huge bravo for Balint on his effort disecting the first part, without this info, I wouldn't have been able to create this cue sheet (thanks Balint  Wink).

Just one remark: This a quick and dirty first effort. I quickly checked the result, the cut is not perfect,  for some 'songs' the cut is halve a second too early. The only way this can be solved is by finetuning the Balint list with tenths of seconds.

Give it a go and please post you comments, questions, suggestions or corrections.
