Unreleased and other interesting stuff
« on: May 07, 2004, 07:58:01 AM »

Hi everyone, my offer is some unreleased stuff and interesting shows from here and there.

Crush All Boxes
It was to be released in 1980, but someting happened. Some song ended on Ypu Are What You Is, some on Tinseltown. The Tinseltown cover was made to this, also - you can see it under the letters "Tinseltown Rebellion".
It sounds good, and the drumming of David Logeman is a little bit different: more bass drums here.
here's another version of this in "Mystery Box", but that was made when Colaiuta left the band (he wanted more money) in '80 january, so the band plaey with some kind of drum machine. So, this is NOT that was, this is a was-to-be-released one.

Chalk Pie
Another one of that kind - a really nice album. Most things released later, but with more studio-works, so it i much more lively. The songs are a little bit different here and there: Lisa Pipeils screams more, and so on.

I like this one, and its a pity that these songs were published separately in such mixed albums later.
As I know it was deleted because Al Di Meola didn't like the solo he played on Clowns on Velvet. Not sure. By the way, Tthat song is great, ang was released only on Thingfish with some dialogue over it... Pity.

1973 Arlington, TX
Not the best show - I think in spring '73 the band was underrehearsed, they weren't so much together. But: here is DEVIATIONS. Where Frank  plays with the audience: makes them clap, shout, siss... Just as seen on Video from Hell, but its longer. Great!

1974 25-9 Göteborg, Sweden
Interesting show, after Helsinki, but they play a sightly differen repertoire - including Pojama People and FLAMBAY!!!
According to the Sheik Yerbouti liner notes the basic line for Rubber Shirt was recorded here, and I REMEMBER hearing in, but later I just couldn't find... I might be crazy...

1974-05-08 Edinboro
Its not the best show, either, but is has a few minutes later to be released on Roxy. It was the 10th anniversary tour, '74, with tons of songs from Freak Out! Surprise: Ruth Underwood is not here...

Question:
Should I or should I not share here Trance Fusion here? Its said to be released this year, so I dont know. I have it as one big file, but without the terrible bad connections it has in most of the reachable song-by-song variations.

Who's interested? And: what do you say?

Sorry, one more: I'd really like to include

1973 08-21 Stockholm 192
It is the Piquantique show, a great band, but here this is the whole show!
bonus: an interview from this show (teh airport).
Withour Trance fusion its OK for one CD.

OK, it seems it'll go with Trance Fusion, but then without the Stockholm show (not enough place) - that goes later.

Anyway, I was wrong:
Edindoro '74 IS a good show, with Murphy Brock making a long improvisation ("rap") about "someone offering me marihuana - but I said: no-no...", and it also has a minute of Octandre from Varése (after Montana), so it's not THAT bad. :-) It has an early version of Inca Roads, without Ruth Underwood, so that's why I had a memory of it as a not-so -elaborate show. But again: its fine. Trouble Every Day is on Roxy.

Göteburg '74:
I still didn't fint Rubber Shirt yet, so I might be crazy or have only dreamt of it... But it has also Zoot Allures chords, which go to Flambay, so they might only be first chords of Flambay, but REALLY sounds like Zoot Allures. First half of Stinkfoot is missing. Also a motiv from a Mozart piece, played by Ruth.
At the end: "Chester Thompson... smiled 3 times... and played the drums." :-)

I plan to send it next monday-tuesday.

Hi everybody - the pack is on its way to Muffinland. With Trance-fusion, without Stockholm. That one will be on the next assortment.

Great selection, I'm in.

An interesting(?) trivia about the Göteborg concert: I have a picture from that concert where FZ is wearing a GAIS T-shirt. For you who are unfamiliar with Swedish football I can tell you that GAIS used to be a good team way back in the 40s when they won the Swedish championships a couple of times. Nowadays GAIS plays in the 2nd division but they still have a large fanbase. They are almost like a Swedish version of Arsenal in "Fever Pitch", lots of fans but never really succeeding. Some devoted GAIS fan must have given FZ the T-shirt and asked him to wear it during the concert. Anyway, I will try to find that picture and post it here.

Hey Muffin,

could you find Rubber Shirt on Gothenburg (Göteborg) '74? I'm really curious, I have to know whether I went crazy of something else happened... :-)
