zappa AKA

 maybe already covered over time on KUR but can anyone give old pappap a few of or any AKA for zappa as writer singer producer ........  my mind seems to be catching up with the abuse given it years ago..... maybe even some song titles written by zappa but using an alias.  and maybe even where some of these nuggets could be found.  thanks,  not that anyone really cares but I've come out of a long cold freezing rain, snow, sleety depressing hibernating winter thankfully ate everything but my nuts to survive.  hope you all have a lovely spring/summer.  hope to be in touch.   help with the above info if you want/can   One more thing maybe those in the pittsburgh area would know where the club is that yearly has a day dedicated to zappa music, videos and yes even Kareoke?? spelled right??  I have tried but no go in this area.  I would like to go to someplace where zappa freaks are welcomed tp just have fun.       thanks pappap999

There's two Zappa AKAs (aliasses?) I know of:

1.- 'Obdewl'l X', plays guitar on two tracks on George Duke's 1974 "Feel" album.
Excellent album by the way. Don't understand why this one has never been re-released on CD.
No commercial potential ?? Wrong label, maybe ... (MPS). Anyway, much better than all that crap he has put out on Warner in the 80s and 90s (IMHO).

2.- 'Stucco Homes', vocals on "Dead Girls of London" on L.Shankar's 1979 "Touch Me There" album (Zappa Records).

Hi Pappy, good to hear from you again !
There are a number of Cucamunga era compilations available (check out the GandS Music site) which contain early tracks which FZ either produced and/or played on under various different names - one of the tracks is a surf guitar type thing which was later used on one of the early Mother's album where the stylus is ripped across the vinyl ( sorry - I'm a disgrace to this forum !  I can't remember the names of them !! ).

Also, if memory serves right, there is a bit in Ben Watson's "The Negative Dialectics Of Poodle Play" which indicates that FZ on ocassion would introduce himself to the audience as "Rondo Hatton; the world's ugliest man."
(Rondo Hatton was an actor who had a facial disfigurement - reportedly caused by a gas attack during the war - although to me it looks more like a congenital condition called acromegaly).

guac: I guess you're referring to the surf music part in "Nasal Retentive Calliope Music" (last 20 seconds) on We're Only In It For The Money. Same surf rhythm (drum parts) can also be heard on Lumpy Gravy Part 1 at 10:20-11:05 as a background to Motorhead's talk about his work at the gas station. The source to all this  is "Heavies" from "The Rotations" (another FZ alias ?).

he = George Duke (obviously), not FZ

"Stucco Homes" - vocals is actually FZ + Ike Willis.

thanks for both the welcome back from guacamole and all the info I'll poke my probiscus there and see what I can find.  hey It's 74 degrees in california Pa. and things are coming back to life all around me.  good to see the great minds are still at work at KUR.  I do have poodle dialect and all the rest but was looking from the fans standpoint of what they knew and you gave me a good start.
