Brown shoes don't make it!

This is a rallying cry to those sick and tired of being told how sexist, stupid, racist, etc. all of the honorable judge Zappa's lyrics are! Not until the blood of those unable to grasp irony flows in our streets will we be happy!
... Or maybe we should just make this into a thread for bitching about people who misunderstand the irony and subtle/not-so-subtle critique behind Frank Zappa's lyrics.
On a slightly related note: does anyone here have any idea whether the part of Thing-Fish about feminism emasculating men was serious or meant to be ironic? I happen to think he wasn't criticising feminists in general, that he was criticising radical, man-hating feminists who denied their own sexuality in favor of yuppie-esque corporate aims. Then again, that's just me.

What people don't understand is how progressive Zappa is being with his lyrics. What strikes me about his lyrics is that the break the standards of behavior expected of a "serious" composer! The Lather album is full of such juxtapositions and I just love listening to all of it in its entireity. There are tons of Zappa "fans" who talk about how much they love his orchestral work and can't stand the Jewish Princess and Dinah Moe Humms. In my opinion, how is it possible to truly appreciate Zappa if one closes his/her mind to one of his many faces as a composer? It's his diversity that makes him a musical genius! While most have only 1 or 2 musical personalities on their records, FZ easily puts in six!
Oh and i believe that in ThingFish, he is just trying to twist the minds of the listener and he is not only trying to blur the lines of what a broadway musical, but trying to blur the confining lines of society. I don't think he is SERIOUSLY ATTACKING the feminists, just shaking the foundations a little bit.
