Gail Zappa preventing his music from being played live
« on: November 04, 2003, 03:24:21 PM »

I went to see Project Object last night in Portland, Oregon.  Gail Zappa and the Zappa Trust laywers wanted extra money to play his music live.  Over and above ASCAP fees.  This is totally bogus.

I know Gail wants to protect Franks copyrights, but that does not extend to people playing his songs live, only recording them.

Any word from you guys on this subject?

And...didn't she get 130 Mil (or so) for that last Ryco deal?
Too bad for the previous sidemen that happen to play in the group.

Oh well - my wife likes to take control of my cash too.
But!,  There is no reason for a lack of releases on her part.
I do not want to hear some lame assed excuse that the production costs are so high - the shits already been produced (in most cases) - all you're paying for is duplication-packaging and distribution.

I'm sorry that my 1st post has a somewhat negative lean to it but, hey -ya know - I want all the Zappa I can get - regardless of who's playing it.
