well, guess what? I sent gail zappa an e-mail asking her to get involved and today an e-mail says that I should get the cd Via UPS by the 23rd of Oct. If it comes, I will let you all know. aside to BOB: why do you think that so many people get this attitude and complete lack of respect for consumers that would obviously go broke purchasing any and all music and video of ZAPPA. I mean seriously, if I had the potential to feed the zappa hungry freaks out here with music and concert footage that is stored away they would have to open a bank just for that cash itself. be back soon.

You ain't even number two...

Hoping for the best...
Just to get your anticipation up...The guitar workouts on this disc (and there are several) are phenominal. And I think this lineup, especially Andre Lewis, was underrated by some people.

23 October... Is today the day, pappap? If it is, I might be forced to dig out and sing along: Come writers and critics Who prophesize with your pen And keep your eyes wide The chance won't come again And don't speak too soon For the wheel's still in spin And there's no tellin' who That it's namin'. For the loser now Will be later to win

well,l I did get the cd oc the 23rd sounds good but still looking at the packaging and all I am trying to figure out why the suspense in this special yellow dye that they were waiting for to make the cd cover. I don;t know about the others but mine is white with black lettering. any way finally got it worth the time listening to. Isn't it strange that barfko and the rest of the crew never had an answer for all this ? Just tell us the truth we can handle it, you screwed up. a huge, I mean a really humungus thumbs down scraping the pavement to the people responsible for all the false doodooo that was given to zappa fans after standing by him all these years concerts albums bootleg videos [only purchased because you have a vault full but have not figure how to dick us] shirts books why the mistreatment It wasn't FRANKIE or potato headed bobby no, not even suzy creamcheese. corporate greed all the way to the bank.

Well, I am indeed happy to hear you received your package as promised (after much anxiety), but I am also disappointed you seem less than overwhelmed - maybe more in the packaging than the music itself.
My theory (again for what it's worth) related to ZFT actions/business practices is this:
Frank was a guy who liked to go against the grain and jerk people around, especially those who were particularly deserving. The thing was, he always had a POINT. Agree with the point or not, there was a point and purpose to his madness - whether it be creative or business.
His spouse and offspring wish to carry that cross grain attitude forward in the way they do business - all in the name of promoting and protecting Frank's legacy. The problem, as I see it, is they only achieve a curmudgeonly cantankerous attitude. Their usual response to customers, be it personal or in the form of FAQ, comes off as smartass, bitchy and cocky. What is missing is the POINT. What is the point, anyway? So far, I don't see one.
Of course, I am only echoing what many others have already said in many different ways. And no, of course the ZFT doesn't owe any of us anything, unless they first make a promise to deliver. And yes, if they want to just get on with their lives - GREAT - throw away the combination to the vault and just get on with it! It seems, though, they have their lips permanently glued to the teat of Frank's legacy. It's tough being the survivors of legendary, bigger than life, real persons.

The ZFT are looking for people who have everything that FZ ever produced legit or not and who have large wads of cash burning painful holes in their pockets and will be willing to wait forever for product. And they insult them in the process!
Unfortunately or maybe fortunately I do not belong in those categories. I am still collecting the wonderous artifacts that went before. At this point, I am rather glad I did not give in and put FZ:OZ on an already overburdened credit card on the strength of their assurances that it would be good and that it would be on time.
I am sure it is worthwhile musically and I will get it eventually, but not for $40 plus! Not even should they put my name in inch high letters on the cover!

I agree! I'll get FZ:OZ in my next life. I'm still lacking some essentials yet, and they aren't making it easy for me to purchase it from the buttocks of the planet, lol... How about you, Bob?? Have you received your copy already? Sharl

No, I have more or less given up on the prospect of owning a bona fide copy of FZ:OZ. As I said in an earlier post, I am certain ZFT/BS have lost my order. I am thankful they were so incompetent as to lose the order BEFORE charging my credit card. I will not chase them down to try to stuff cash in their pockets and force them to sell me a cd.
DebK and Sharl speak a lot of sense. I am going to make a conscious effort to grow out of my teenage desire to possess everything FZ and enjoy what I have, especially my memories of the REAL FZ when he was still alive and in control. The folks who claim control today are simply not up to the task.

Let me qualify what I have said. I do not criticize people who have a complete collection for wanting to purchase FZ:OZ. I am upset with ZFT for charging so much and making fans wait for so long etc, etc, etc. I understand wanting to have a complete collection. In FZ's case it may not be possible, though.
Just to make things clear DebK
PS: Did anybody who haunts these premises ever get to see FZ in concert? Now, that memory would be a priceless possession!

re: seeing zappa -- Under forum how did you get into... I have a couple small? messages re: I have been very lucky to have lived thru the garrick theater days all the way to the last shows in pitt. pa 1988. when zappa came to town he always sold out all shows I never missed one of them and as I stated before I never heard any song or show done the same way twice. I do have most of his older music vinyl held up best for me but I take it any form. today I try to help as many younger as in children/grandchildren get into zappa as possible. I miss him. I miss his stage presence. as I stated in the other forum imagine tickets for shows lasting from a few minutes to several hours only $3.00 in the late 60's. and at times you are the show fantastic. an aside to this-- one of the most outlandish but very, very fine pieces of music was the 1988 ZAPPA band doing the BEATLES I am the walrus. I'd like to have that one back

It is a step in some direction UPS has a habit of throwing packages on the porch or in the door not having anyone sign for it. you my freind are left with a tracking # to make sure that it is coming. and if it doesn't keep after them but tracking by going www.UPS tracking.com enter tracking number given from barfko while tracking my second one the ups guyin brown threw it on the porch. so first get a tracking number from barfkoswill or zappa.com the follow. petty news they still didn't add the $4. coupon for being late to be used on future purchases. this is very definitely an on your knees operation by proxy I'm sure.
