Scarey radio
« on: August 16, 2002, 04:35:47 PM »

As we all know, the word ugly is from the Old norse/Icelandic words uggr/ugga/uggligr - fear/to fear/fearful.  So here on the kill scarey radio sight, we can now discuss the radio that scares us.

So, I'd like to suggest top 40 playlist radio, and i think not necessarily because of any particular song.  Generally I tend to like the songs.  You switch the radio on and it just seems like easy listening.  But after a while i find that any sharpness of mind (lets assume it's a good day), seems to have been lost - or at least become clouded.

Interperse some blues/ska/reggae/jazz/world etc, and it could be just another enjoyable music form, but radio stations seem to mostly insist on single styles of output, relegating these other forms to specialist programs.

If i think of any particular songs that scare me, I'll be sure to think about posting further details.   Smiley

A few years back, I worked for a radio station for a short time.  The boss said, "We at Radio XXX have the A.C. format.  Do you know what A.C. stands for?"

I replied, "Artless Crap?"

Needless to say, I didnīt last too long there.

Anonymous Coward (Slashdot)

...but yours was very creative, i don't know why they fired you, really!  Cheesy

Hey, Sharleena, thanks for the comforting words.  Too bad I didnīt have an acronym finder in those days, but what the hey...

By the way, A.C. stands for "adult contemporary" in the radio biz.  Now, that sure sounds like corporate jargon to me!

And don't forget about good ol' ANAL CUNT.  Which, for some, would probably be classified as scary.  But I don't think they'll be playing anything of theirs on the radio any time soon.
