:-/ Sweet Lord! I didn't know this web site existed! My life is finally complete. Hang on... no it isn't... I've yet to find a tramp with beads. And I've still got to challenge Bill Cosby to a duel. Bugger...
So what are your favourite albums? Mine are: Absolutely Free One Size Fits All Broadway...
Sorry this is so short - I've got a frigging Sociology lecture now.
I'll be back later, boys and girls....
Take care,
Freakin' H

Favourite albums? Holy muffin, that's like asking a mother to pick a favourite child. Anyway... seeing as it's you who's askin'... Top 5 (right here, right now):- OSFA (vinyl, cd version lost something)
- Apostrophe/Overnite sensation (I know, I'm cheating, to get the maximum in here, and in my mind their inseperable!)
- BTHW, essential to have on both vinyl and CD (as they're different)
- Bongo Fury (again, original vinyl is best!)
- ...and a wildcard alternating in the orbit of Zappafrank and putting in stops at: Sheik Yerbouti, WOIIFTM, JGactI (vinyl), Man From Utopia*, etc.
I could go on and on... last Zappa I listened to was "Watermelon on Easter Hay", followed by "Packard Goose" (I know, I listen backwards). Darn gone hate them cd thingies, you know... TC '..' * MFU, listed because it has a special significance to me, and my vinyl version differs quite a bit from the remasterd CD version (i.e. with "Louije & The Wise Guys") and I prefer the non-f**ked about-with version...

I am now a member! I'm SO INCREDIBLY proud of myself!
Anyway, all of the albums you mentioned are great.
Today I've been listening to Ahead of Their Time, which I think is superb. I really would have loved to have been there - to see all the stuff the Mothers performed on stage. Plus any live album that includes King Kong is a favourite of mine!
I haven't heard the vinyl version of OSFA - whats different about it?
Hehe... both Apostrophe & Overnite Sensation are excellent too - but I have them separately. NANOOOK RUBBBBBBS IT!
Whats the difference between the vinyl & CD copies of Broadway...? I must track down some of these old vinyls...
I used to have loads of those Foo-eee albums but I seem to have misplaced them. The quality was pretty poor, but I liked them. Freaks and Motherf&^%$rs and Unmitigated Audacity were great...
Anyway, better go...
Take care,
Freakin' H

Favorites? WOIIFTM (sounds surprisingly fresh after all those years) Overnite Sensation (slightly more entertaining than Apostrophe) Roxy & Elsewhere (nearly burnt a hole thru the disc playing this) OSFA (yes, of course...) MAJNH (the wonderful wonderful 88 band at its best)
I'm surprized no one mentioned LATHER so far...

Hey, thanks CS, that explains everything! I'd completely forgotten about Lather. I only had that album for a few weeks - I sold it because I was short for cash at the time (for some reason I sold this but none of my crappy Foo Fighters CDs, which I later gave away to a charity shop because no one else wanted them). I have bought two copies of We're Only In It... - the first one got so worn out and scratched that it kept skipping. Bastard CDs! I'm in the uni computer room and some girl keeps on rubbing her arse against my back... mmmm! ~cough~

SUAPYG - EVen to this day I find its statistical density too difficult to get my lugs round. Some tracks are worth the effort, though!
I just thought of another - YCDTOSA volume n - do I have to choose just one?

So what are your favourite albums? Favourite albums? Holy muffin, that's like asking a mother to pick a favourite child. I encounter this question all the time at the various FZ rooms/boards I visit. I decided it was time to actually give it some measured (I used a chicken) and serious thought. I have narrowed my list down to 10 titles that I could not possibly exist without. They are (in no particular order):The Old Masters Vols 1-3, YCDTOSA Vols 1-6, Apochrypha, Lather, SU&PYG box, Broadway the Hardway Bootleg, Sheik Yerbouti, Joe's Garage 1-3, YAWYI, and The Yellow Shark. If I somehow lost all of my collection except for these, I could possibly continue living... SOFA
