Jack Conte & Pomplamoose

Musician and YouTube phenomenon Jack Conte has two rules when it comes to his videos:

  • What you see is what you hear (no lip-syncing for instruments or voice).
  • If you hear it, at some point you see it (no hidden sounds).

If you’re slightly familiar with Conte, you’ll know about Pomplamoose, a duo that Conte has produced some tracks for. They stick to the same rules:

This DIY attitude toward recording combined with the instant world wide audience YouTube provides got me thinking: is the next musical revolution taking place on YouTube, right under our noses?

Yes – The Times They Are a-Changin’ (as somebody once observed). John Harris made the point the other day… in the age of YouTube and Spotify, with all the goodies they lay before us, musicians will need to attract our time rather than our money.

Nice find, Barry! I really like these videos. I envy Jack’s limitless talent and ingenuity. ‘Gulf’ sounds like something from Tool. Conte gets some great sounds out of that acoustic. And a excellent revamp of ‘September”.

BTW, all this might require some high-quality techniology – right? It seems really diffucult (to me) to cut all these separate tracks and bring them together – WITH THE VIDEO! I dont think its a five-minute procedure…
