Zappa Plays Zappa Reviews
Now that ZPZ is finally on the road, I figured it would be interesting to open a thread where those of you who have attended any of the concerts could give your opinion, review, setlist, etc. This evening’s Copenhagen, next is Oslo, then Stockholm, Düsseldorf, Berlin, etc. I’m sure there’s KUR readers in each of those cities — so tell us how “your” gig turned out in the comments… Don’t forget to mention date and venue!
ZPZ In Amsterdam
Zappa Plays Zappa kicks off in Amsterdam this evening! I’ll be reading the Dutch Zappa-list with more than usual attention in the following days… :)

Here’s a little audio/visual taste of what we can expect from Zappa Plays Zappa, as recorded at the Jammy Awards last April 20. From the looks of it, the Dweez may be somewhat lacking in showmanship but by golly, he’s got the chops! I can’t wait to see these guys live in Brussels.

ZPZ At The Jammy’s
Last night was Zappa Plays Zappa’s official opening at the Jammy’s. Judging from this review authored by one Trendmonger at the zappa.com forums, we are in for a treat. A Big Treat:
Chick Corea came out for the Fender Rhodes and Moog solos in Inca Roads and it was plain to see that this band is a tour de force as one listened to Inca Roads & Florentine Pogen with a sound believe it or not that was Thicker and had More Balls than any live Zappa performance I have ever seen and heard. When the band left the stage one could not stop and realize that this Zappa Plays Zappa band had all the right ingredients.

Zappa Plays Zappa: European Tourdates
I’m probably the last to find out — blame it on too much work and a faulty car-battery at 7pm out in the freezing cold — but the ZFT now has a page up with all the (European) tourdates for Zappa Plays Zappa.
Sidenote: am I the only one who thinks the “Accept No Substitute” slogan is a bit of a snide remark at the address of all the “unofficial” tribute bands that have been keeping Frank’s music alive all these years? Maybe that car-battery just got me in a bad mood…
