I figured in the event that I get married and die, and since I make music right now if it starts to sell, to prevent my wife from feeling the obligation of filing lawsuits on anybody whos sites carry my name I decided to star (*) out the middle of my name. Maybe you guys should do the same (well you kinda already have). I wonder if Gail could possibly get litigious over the use of the initials FZ… what if I too decided to have facial hair like Frank, would that mean I have to pay royalties?
The shitty thing is that Frank Zappa didnt mind lawyering up and going into court for a good old fight, so its kind of scary to think he might have done the same nit picky bullshit that Gail is doing… all problems with Gail aside, and Im the first person to get upset to hear everybody just feeling entitled to download and pillage the catalogs of any performer and artist, but this site is nothing like that. Just because Gail, at a snails pace, wants to release every tiny little peice of sound Frank ever made, at whatever absorbant prices she wants to put on it, dosnt make the boots up here wrong. What youve done is a great thing, Ive gotten to hear hours and hours of footage I NEVER would have heard, it was done far before I was born and I have got to in some way listen to it.
I would just like to say thank you for all youve done, youve done great and I dont feel have done anything wrong. And fuck Gail and her slow ass. Whatever happened to “If we cant be free at least well be cheap” and “Youve gotta feed the beast”.

Tell me a*out it. and while im here, you are all moaning aout the zappa vaults and getting it released, what I would LOVE to hear is the first recorded version of Trout mask replica. As Frank mentioned in his *ook, everyone in the magic *and recorded individually in seperate rooms. As F said,” I thought it sounded teriffic”. Love to hear zpz covering that al*um.

Of course Trout Mask Replica sounded terrific. The Magic Band rehearsed the entire album in a house for six months before going into the studio to record it. They knew those tracks forward and backward, inside and out. Could ZpZ cover that album? Hardly. I mean, they couldn’t get through a two hour show without several obvious screw-ups (and that’s FZ’s material — just imagine them attempted some Beefheart classics: I chuckle just thinking about it).

Mike Keneally tells the tale that while he was in FZ’s Best Band in Birmingham, England, Scott Thunes’ friend from XTC, Dave Gregory (guitarist & keyboardist & big Zappa fan) wanted to meet Zappa and had even brought Zappa albums for him to sign. Thunes was afraid that Frank wouldn’t show his friend from XTC the respect he deserved (because they were such a successful band at that time) so he kept putting off introducing them. But eventually it became unavoidable that they would meet, so Thunes introduced his friend. “Frank, this is Dave Gregory from XTC.” All Frank said was “Mup” and walked out of the building.
