Ah, Dan is far too critical. It was a challenging program and kudos are due for even attempting it.

Well - i just ALWAYS get a hoot outta a rip-snortin' good Zappa cover ... & this one's catchy as hell! Thinness seems unavoidable with a piece one's used to hearing from a bigger ensemble - but it still did ROCK. The end's sweet too - still funny to see a classical-type group playing - then be hearing the audience go straight-up batshit like that, hmm?

Can hardly wait 'til some newfound micro-nation uses it as their anthem, hee hee hee!

Dan DiPaolo -- It's too bad there isn't any footage of Jeffrey Milarsky’s chamber orchestra for comparison -- I'll have to take your word for it.

Wow! Amazing! Inspired! I loved how they managed to incorporate the improvisational nature of FZ's work by having each instrument perform a mini-solo within the larger work.

G-spot was the one real accomplishment of Fireworks's set, thus readers at killuglyradio have a very sympathetic point of view to their set, given this is the only evidence. In other respects, they were not up to the task; sloppy at times (you can hear that on the middle section here - although I, of course, have plenty of understanding for the string players), flat solos, limpid vamps, ensemble were too thin, and the like. Jeffrey Milarsky's chamber orchestra was rather more of a treat, but the real gem of the evening was the string quintet!

I wish I had been there, it sounds like it was great fun. Very enthusiastic playing and I really enjoyed the audacious violin solo.
