WHERE’S NEGATIVLAND?
For a band that like to take images of other ‘famous people’, and use them as their own, could they at least acknoledge the band they almost DESTROYED!!! I know my precious Negativland have moved on, but it’s things like THIS that piss me off!

DIE BONO DIE
December 19th, 2006 at 7:37 am »
Interesting to read all the comments so far.
I’m not a big U2 or Bono fan, especially after being blitzed last year with Vertigo from every possible commercial angle.
It’s cool to see FZ acknowledged in a context with other important artists though. Maybe some U2 and other pop fans will be prompted to broaden their experience and listen to some of these artists. This would be good.
Otherwise, it is emotional socio-political commentary destined for over-commercialism.
They are what they is.

Exactly.
I’m not a fan of U2 either (although i used to like them until before The Joshua Tree) but i find uncommon that for one time they put their BIG EGOS aside to show some remarkable musicians in their place.
Of course it is also to sell discs, but hey…

I also wonder if Gail will be amused, or will she want to see them in court. After all surely every part of the image is © ZFT.

The only bigshot dude missing is the great rock’n roller himself: Mr. Bill Gates. But I’m sure he paid for that.

a song by Bono must die
December 19th, 2006 at 5:15 pm »
I wonder why “Bono Must Die” is not featured in the last U2’s video..??

Dull, dull, dull. Perhaps it’ll find it’s way into the next Bono gift pack give away (ala live
or on the next marketed Live 8 DVD: Feed the Poor, But Give Us Your Money.

They are only in it for the money, hey….Ú2 is only history, nothing new
nothing exciting, maybe they should play more irish
traditional music and practice more dancing in its basic form, without
ring ding ding “edge” guitar playing.
December 19th, 2006 at 5:53 pm »
(but he invented a guitar-style, remember this…I never saw a u2 coverband with a good guitar player)
December 19th, 2006 at 6:47 pm »
Ok, you’ve got right, but who wants to go to a cover band of U2″
The only reasen could be, if there would be more Frank Zappa Videos
but with original sound. And less ring ding ding guitar-style. Thanks.

bullshit. ‘edge’ ripped off and distilled keith levene’s playing from the first 2 public image limited records. he also made it way more boring than the original, and proceeded to rake in untold millions, because most people are just just shy of full-on retard status.
he also ripped off his dumbass handle from gillette.
why don’t rich twatwaffles like him just buy an island and fuck off? why must they stick around to taunt, torture, and preach to the salt of the earth?

Many years ago, I saw U2 supporting Talking Heads. Didn’t like ‘em then, don’t like ‘em now. Pretentious farts. Big deal.

You know what…most people ARE just shu of full-on retard status. That is basically an explanation for much of life.

I agree with “me” that the world is getting stupider by the minute. Being old enough to recall a world before videos, I think that the video medium itself has a lot to do with this so-called ‘dumbing-down’ of the audience. Sure, the medium has its potential to enlighten, but the media envolved (U2 included) seems to participate in a ‘race-to-the-bottom’ appealing to the lowest common denominator ( in this video’s case: nostalgia). Recall that FZ’s video “You Are What You Is” was deemed the worst video ever on MTV’s Beavis & Butthead. So, it’s not that Bono must die, or that Beavis & Butthead must die, or even MTV must die…it’s the audience for this manufactured crapola that’s got to go. If shit is all you ask for, shit is all that you will get.

ffs at least frank got shown! twice!! I thought the vid was good. nearly pissed my pants when I seen FZ. it was zoot alures at the end.
