The Cruncher

Wiki dwellers take heed: here’s a picture of The Rotations’ “The Cruncher” (b/w Heavies) single — from a man who doesn’t seem to like Zappa very much:

Fourth, much of my reaction is due to Zappa Fans and the elitist/evangelical way they come off. My teenage years were littered with a few neighborhood Zappa heads who constantly lectured me on how great and smart Zappa was and how stupid I was for liking Black Sabbath and then punk rock. Fine let them have their club.

Elitist? Moi? :)

  1. Let him burn in hell!! Evildoers will all be damned for eternity for their blasphemy!! Zappa healed us, HE could heal you too if you just let HIM into your LIFE!!! and you Barry, touch the screen; touch the screen you sinner!! you’ll be saved!!

(I DO like Black Sabbath tho…)

  2. hell yeah that’s a great single, both sides and FZ did that with Paul Buff, remember?

  3. The poster that says “Zappa Fan Insists You Just Haven’t Heard The Right Record” is right, of course. With 70+ records to choose from different fans will always point the unenlightened to different ‘essentials’. And they all sound the same to people who can’t appreciate the layered weirdness that we have come to recognize as ‘the touch of the master’.

I love Zappa, but you know, Zappa fans are a minority. And being a minority doesn’t make you right by definition. So be polite to the non fans, they can’t be all idiots. (I should know, I’m married to one).

  4. Zappa has always been a door to a varied and adventurous musical universe to those willing to traverse something a little more challenging than contemporary popular product.
