Hurray For Hungary

September 6th, 2004 • Barry's Imaginary Publisher

When a musically gifted Hungarian ZombyWoof with a more than decent recording system decides to have a go at some Zappa tunes, what you’ll get is: excellent music.

Wow! Very good job on some of this stuff! So many Zappa covers or re-arrangements have zillions of wrong notes, wrong chords, etc. (even Zappa himself did that occasionally!), but the ones I heard here are a lot better than most.

    Hurray, hurray!
I burned a CD from his work, ang while going home (nowadays on bycicle) i listen to it through earphones. Really fine works, even better in stereo. Makes my evenings really nice!
The amazing thing for me (apart from the precision of the performances) is the braveness to change it, to PLAY with the original one - just like FZ used to to with almost each of his songs while performing them live. That’s what makes ‘em lively, that’s what makes ‘em real MUSIC - and joy.
P.s: I really enjoy the solos as well.

Yes, I wasn’t complaining about changes, just errors - really wrong notes, chords, etc.
