Zappa En La Radio

At TBN‘s yahoo group, DebK’s been telling about how she phoned in on her local radio station with the Zappa tracks she wants most played on the radio. Mine, in this hot summertime, would be: 1. Cruising For Burgers (ZINY), 2. Fifty fifty (Overnite Sensation) and 3. Inca Roads (OSFA). Count on this list to be different tomorrow. How about yours? If you’re going to request Zappa on the radio, which tracks will you ask for?

  1. Hey, Storm, glad to see you upstairs! Anyway, make sure to mention everybody, when you call your songs in that you are waiting impatiently for the new OZ release by Zappa!!!! It never hurts to put in a little word of mouth! I thank you , Gail thanks you and I am sure somewhere Frankie thanks you!

  2. I remember the goodle days when an adventurous radio station would actually play some FZ. I have to admit, I don’t listen to any “rock” radio anymore, so I don’t know if anybody plays FZ or not. I always enjoyed, and was pleasantly surprised, hearing Peaches en Ragalia – it always sounded so fresh and new in the midst of the usual radio sludge….when no commercial potential was a good thing….and then along came Heart befouling the blown speakers in my late model Toyota Vendetta.

  3. 1. Flakes (SY)
    2. Black Page #2 New Age version (MAJNH)
    3. Inca Roads (OSFA)
    4. Ship Arriving Too Late to Save a Drowning Witch (SATLTSADW)
Yeah right, like they’d ever play THAT one. lol

  4. 1.Heavenly Bank Account (YCDTOSA#1). 2.Go cry on somebody else’s shoulder (Freak Out!). 3. It just might be a one-shot deal (Waka/Jawaka). 4. Lucille has messed my mind up. 5. Nig Biz (Y..Stage#3)
I’m glad to say i’ve heard some Zappa songs on the radio here (in Buenos Aires, believe it or not!) There used to be a guy some time ago, en la radio, here, who happened to be a big zappafan, he always played the Zappa theme of the day, and then his program has had Take Your Clothes Off as a background music, for instance when he read the news, etc. Needless to say i was his first listener :-).
