Parser Functions Extension

Hello Barry,

Would it be possible to install the following Parser Functions Extension?
=> http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/ParserFunctions#Installation

It is very small and would allow us to use conditional syntax in templates (if-then-else).

Hi Maroual,

I tried installing this extension but the moment I did the wiki threw errors. Checking the link you provided, it states that this will work with MediaWiki 1.7 alpha -- whereas my install is 1.4.2.

I'll upgrade the wiki at some point but seeing as how the latest version is still in alpha stage, I'll wait a little...

Hey, no problem!
In any case, I'm going to have to upgrade pretty soon since the longer I wait, the more loops I'll find myself having to jump through. Thing is, you can't upgrade directly from 1.4.2 to 1.7 -- nooo, you have to first upgrade to 1.5, then 1.6, then 1.7. As terrified as I am about a botched upgrade crippling the wiki, I'm going to have to bite the bullet some time soon.

Out of curiousity: can you tell me what added functionalities we get with the aforementioned extension?

Oh, and to all ZWJ worker ants: just wanted you to know that the wiki will be featured in the beginning pages of Greg Russo's next revision of his book "Cosmik Debris". So we must be doing something right!
