well well well... i was listening to Black Napkins the other day (I've been listening to Black Napkins almost every second day for the last 30 years, now...), and all of a sudden I found myself singing lines over Frank's solo, and the lines were:
He took a dog-doo snow cone and stuffed it in my right eye He took a dog-doo snow cone and stuffed it in my other eye And the husky wee-wee I mean the doggie wee-wee Has blinded me And I cant see Temporarily
from Nanook Rubs It, of course.
So, next thing I do I play Nanook Rubs It in my brain, and think there might be some simillarity between Black Napkins and Nanook. So, next thing I do I put the Apostrophe album on my turntable (no CDs for such an experiment) and listen to it once more. And find out that, yes, I'm convinced that THERE IS something in common between BN and NRI. Is it only the rhythmics? Is it only in my ears? I would like to have some feedback from you, mates.
P.S. Of course you might ask what version of Black Napkins I was listening to the other day... well, it was the one from YCDTOSA vol. 6, but then I listened to all the other 20 versions I have at hand and got the same feeling. I'm still amazed it took me 30 years to find out...
