The first thing I noticed when I entered the wiki today, was a whinge by Bálint,... followed by a whinge by Duncan... It is becoming a daily habit (ritual?)... and it has been going on for ages. Before somebody jumps on my back: this is an observation, not an appreciation.

Calling something "a whinge" is not an observation, it's an appreciation.
Anyhoo: semantics.

If anything's "rotten in the state of Denmark" Emdebe, it's your constant sneering and stabbing at other contributors which, to be quite honest, I am finding increasingly annoying.

The wiki's far from dead, it needs to be discussed though, obviously. If you cannot add to a constructive discussion, I suggest you don't join the conversation. Having to dig through thick layers of sarcasm to find out what idea's might be at he bottom is becoming tiresome.

Balint has made some very good points about focusing on the discog first, the idea of a "model discog page" as a guide, and I agree with his criticism of skeleton pages which are now floating who knows where in the wiki (clicking the "random page" there will serve up quite a few). Duncan too has pointed out some sore aspects of the wiki.

And before you jump on my back: this is an observation, not an appreciation. Smiley

What is wrong with you?
Haven't you seen the comments of some people on other people's work?
Where exactly have you seen my "sneering and stabbing"?

Why is it that some people always "make good points", while I am always "sneering and stabbing"?

I was about to ask you that question.

If you go to http://wiki.killuglyradio.com/index.php/Talk:Main_Page, you'll find an expression "Duncan's Daily Whinge", stated by ... Duncan. That's what I was referring to.
So, Duncan must have been "sneering and stabbing" at himself...

Have you read anything by Duncan lately?

Lets make a competition!!!! Who's worse?? Come on! Any suggestions? More, more!

*

Or: why don't we fokus on the work itself? It WILL bring tons of questions, tons of arguments, tons of surprises (new films, to me...), and tons of mooore work. First: we should agree in a few things.

Lets try it - all of us (incuding me): more suggestions, more patience, less personal stuff, less sarcasm. Like here.

The way I see it.

"troubles with the Discography" - was it not ME who suggested to finally make a "sample-page"?...
difficulties with “skeleton pages”. - no difficulties, but problems to be solved. And we should not make any more of them.
"unhappiness with the Biography." - Where is the alternative? Who has some better idea? Come on, show me!
"tons of other reasons for not liking the wiki" - I like the wiki, about to make a wiki for my private use. I dont like not-getting-an-answer, I dont like wrong or not-finished pages, I dont like being personal - things that depens on us. Its not a "wiki-question".

The original text goes:

There are seemingly troubles with the Discography. There is apparently discontent about the “disambiguation pages”. There are ostensibly issues with naming conventions. There are purportedly difficulties with “skeleton pages”. There is allegedly unhappiness with the Biography. There are presumably tons of other reasons for not liking the wiki. There is displeasure with this, disgruntlement with that,... dissatisfaction all over the place...

Where does it say that I say these things? It was just an observation about what others have been saying. Things like "The discography is crap!", or "I was just watching this and that, and found tons of skeleton pages - and sorry to say, but I think the ONLY thing there is to be done with them is to delete as mush as we can.", or (about the Biography) "...before I click on edit and delete the whole thing"...

"Are we close to the edge of splitting up?" - you were close (several times) to quit the whole thing. And - sorry - there were some guys not contributing because of you. If you dont like dialogs, questions/answers, solving problems, its free to leave (again). Well, the idea of finishing it all because YOU dont like things... not too elegant.

The full quote goes like:

Are we close to the edge of splitting up?
Does anybody see a light at the end of the tunnel?

Apparently, nobody saw the positive side of the quote...

If you allow me to rephrase the “Does anybody see a light at the end of the tunnel?” question: “Is there a doctor in the audience”? Are there people who have the answers to the many pending questions, because I don’t have them (all)? Then we can go along with the actual work.

For the few people who are regulary contributing to the wiki, it’s kinda frustrating to get one comment after another. It seems that they are always doing the wrong things. This way you (the Forum I mean) get responses like:

Not so easy to keep a constructive attitude. Undecided

If you go to http://wiki.killuglyradio.com/index.php/Talk:Main_Page, you'll find an expression "Duncan's Daily Whinge"

Had you chosen to quote fully it would read: Duncan's Daily Whinge :-)  It is nearly six months old.

Today I have a whole lot of new stuff to whinge about because the wiki is alive and well and growing daily; with much good work and some unique stuff going into it.

No, the wiki is not "dead meat".

Can a question be offensive or rude?... - I hope not.

I guess we should not really focus our discussions on each others tone. Form is not content and written communications look usually more formal and definitive than they really are. For instance, English is not my mother tongue, so I may sometimes use strange words. Cheesy

Thanks, I really appreciated your comments guys.

I am gonna go back on my versions tabs now that I edited my user page Wink
