Y'know, I get this weird feeling that human beings, as a whole, haven't learned a goddamn thing.  Reflecting upon the ten years between your death and the present, it seems like nothing's really changed, with the exception of technological advances.  People, however, have remained stupid.

Shitty music is still popular.  Shitty politicians are still running our towns and countries.  Shitty laws are still permitting the shitty politicians to take healthy cuts from our shitty paychecks, then turn around and pay shitty soldiers a fortune to run to some foreign land and kill a bunch of innocent bystanders.   Shitty businessmen are still getting special treatment from the shitty politicians in order to keep the shitty population under their control.  Shitty religious authorities are still raking in mucho dinero from shitty people who are desperate in their search for some form of "spiritual help."  Gullible people are still following shitty trends.  Dysfunctional people are still hard-pressed to get off, so they adopt shitty deviant practices, some of which are legitimately criminal.

I think your statement about Total Criminalization is absolutely correct.  Almost all preparations have been made.  The time has come to set the wheels in motion, and it will not be long before a global martial law is implemented.

My question to you, Frankie, is this:  would you say that the human race is doomed?

I cannot say that the human race is doomed - to anything... Just when you think you might have it figured out, something comes along that changes everything.
Here's my "take": in order to not succumb to a nihilistic, "oh well, we're fucked anyway", kind of attitude, it is best to view society (meaning all humanity, for - after all - man is a social animal) in the context of history. Your earlier comment was  in"the ten years between your death and the present"; that's a bit narrow, in my opinion. How're we doin compared to a hundred years ago? 200? A thousand? You requested an opinion on 'the big picture' (at least, that's what I read in this), maybe it's best then we not stand so close...
And when you take that step back, you can see that our social evolution, tho' painfully slow, is on the overall positive. Oh yeah, the stupid is still there... It's just not AS stupid. (What? My GOD Madge, could this be OPTIMISM our dear Frankie is espousing? Uhmmm, yeah, I guess you could say it is... What's the fucking option here? {funny what a change in corporeal existence can do to an attitude}) Do ya see what I'm getting at, LCS?
You mentioned "technological advances"; you'd think that would be a positive accelerator in the evolution of our human condition. Unfortunately, it is the opposite. Don't get me wrong, I still believe the evolution is positive, but I see the 'technology angle' as an inhibitor - not a contributor. We're not smart enough to use it for the good yet.
Humanity is slooooowly experiencing a shift in the "power base" (and, after all, it all boils down to power and control, don't it?). That is changing the shape of the Stupid. The Stupid won't go away. But (if you can stomach just a teeny tiny bit more optimism here), it is changing more towards a galactic stupid rather than a global stupid...
