... So: I think skeleton pages should be removed, filled with information, or whatever - this way it is just no good. ... I've been talking about it before, but nothing changed. ...
We have gone through this many times before... (as an example, see http://www.killuglyradio.com/forum/index.php?topic=616.0). If many more people would contribute to the Wiki, maybe things would change (more quickly)... Those who contribute, do whatever they can to make something of it, although it's not always to the liking of others... The Wiki contains some good, some bad, and some ugly things; the bad and ugly ones are mainly due to the lack of experience we had when we started with the Wiki: eversince we gained interesting insights on how things should look like, but now we don't always have the time to make changes... And I think we're to far down the road, to start all over again... In an ideal world, where all of us could contribute to the Wiki on a fulltime basis (without having to work for a decent living), things might have been different (maybe better).

If at all possible I would by far prefer refining the existing structure at the current wiki...
I think everything is possible... if everybody is ready, willing and able to go through some changes.
For one: maybe it would be better to limit the section "Records On Which This Song Has Appeared" to FZ stuff - singles, original albums, compilations & side projects. Thus no more tributes, covers, or bootlegs: these can live happily ever after in the related categories, without cluttering the FZ pages.
And speaking of cluttering: we need a more elegant way to present the lyrics, especially when there are 2, 3 or more versions of a song. I already experimented with putting them on separate pages, but I'm not sure that this is the best way to go.
Let the good ideas flow...

Barry, can you run multiple Wikis from the same installation? If it is technically feasible (I guess so), would you have the kindness to do so? Don’t know what the consequences would be though: space issues, memory issues, any kind administrative issues, ... things that might give you a conehead... If that is too complicated, maybe custom namespaces could do the trick? Again: don’t know what the consequences would be.

Frank Zappa / Zappa Wiki Jawaka / Browser wars

When I use Explorer 7 (yes, I have a Vista machine) while editing a Wiki page, the small icons representing editing aids (B, I, Url, etc.) just disappear...
When I use Firefox 2 for browsing the Wiki, I get weird messages like “this is an application / octet-stream... what do you want to do?”...
What a wonderful world...
Am I only 3000 EUR away from a Mac?

Google is not exactly my friend. OK, it gives me a zillion pages to choose from, but it doesn't say me anything I want to hear: a good, objective opinion about what site to go for. I don't want ads, I don't want slow performance, I don't want entering the site to be like playing Russian Roulette, ... you get the idea: I want everything for nothing...
So, where are all these humans, who surely must have an opinion?

| Which free (as in “no money”) Wiki hosting service would you (as in “all you readers out here”) choose, if you (etc.) decided you (etc.) needed a free (etc.) Wiki hosting service for some experimental noodling (whatever that might be)? |

... Are bootleg records particularly relevant in the mp3 age? Should tribute bands be included in an FZ discography? All of which merely add to the clutter and confusion imho. ...
This tiny little sucker (I mean the discussion topic, not Duncan ) resurfaced again at the Wiki.
Once I had the following suggestion:
... My suggestions are: 1) Learn as much as possible from the mistakes made the last five months. 2) ZIP the whole lot, make it available as a download, and start with a clean sheet at wiki.killuglyradio.com. 3) Additionally, create a wiki.boots.killuglyradio.com. 4) Also create a wiki.tributes.killuglyradio.com. 5) Start working in a non-wiki fashion: instead of everybody running in every direction (like chickens without a head), implement some form of “project management”. 6) Make love, not war. OK, forget about 1, 2, and 5. Do we need to reconsider 3 and 4?
