I play it rarely; tho often enough around Christmas time. I dunno, it sorta sounds like christmas music to me...
Yerah, That's what most have said about it. It has become Christmas Music. One of those albums just occasionally played. |

SOFA, I thought by posting which as you can see just in this section I did, I would recieve a response. I checked in frequently. I was looking for interaction from members here on KUR. I don't think I was being stand offish in any way shape or form. I also did say I'd check in here. Which by this post I have. |

Yes, I've been wondering what happened to "Z.com". Thanks to Slime I found an alternative. Thanks Barry for the offer. Hey, zardoz, the Zappa Forum is back. But, the 'high-bandwith'-option doesn't really work. It only gives you the QuAUDIOPHILIAc-screen. The 'to do'-buttons don't show up. Go in this way: http://www.zappa.com/cheezoid/
oh, btw; thanks, barry! Thanks Lumpy, I was wondering. All I had was the high bandwith on my favorites. |

Hmmm!!! A little confused on what your talking about here. Were you referring to the insert for "Joe's Domage" or my post. Which I thought I gave a good discription and opinion. |

[font=arial]Out of the 3 releases last year, I'd have to say ny personal favourite is "Quaud" even though I don't have 5.1 surround etc, it works fine for me in stereo as I've only got the 2 ears. Chunga's Basement just rules! Is this the start of a release / re-release of FZ stuff in this format I wonder? If that's the case I'm gonna have to invest....
I haven't purchased "Quaud" yet. I don't have 5.1 surround sound and I do own "Halloween" it just doesn't sound right in stereo. Even though it can be played in that format. A friend borrowed it, and I did have a chance to listen to it in that format and it did enhance the sound quality. So, 5.1 surround sound is on my list of things to purchase. Personally I hope ZFT doesn't go this route with future releases, even thought on Z.com I might would get an arguement from those that enjoy this concept. I just look that it is limited on your ability to play it, for one your automobile is not capable of playing it. So, your restricted to listening to it only at home. If anything bring it out in various formats, something which is not likely to happen. |

Just to get back to Bálint's initial question about the Joe's releases ... (consider me as curious as him about them): Would anybody care to give a short summary about what the "booklets" to Joe's Corsage & Domage actually consist of ? Any interesting background liner notes ? Are they thin? Or tons of pictures? Tons of informations? What about the '72 rehearsals? Is there a few words why whas this released? Thanks ... vr No problem: Joe's Corsage
1) "pretty pat" 2) Motherly Love 3) Plastic People 4) Anyway the Wind Blows 5) I Ain't Got No Heart
Items 2-5 Mothers 1965 demo's and the band is:
FZ-Guitar,Vocals Ray Collins-Vocals, Tamborine Henry Vestine-Guitar Roy Estrada-Bass Jimmy Carl Black-Drums
6a) "the phone call" 6) My Babe 7) Wedding Dress Song/Handsome Cabin Boy 8- Hitch Hike
Items 6a-8 from the original stereo 1/4 inch reel to reel 1964 or 1965 Live recording. Joe speculates based on similarity of sound could be from the Broadside, Pomoma California. Pre-Verve bar circuit original Mothers:
FZ-Guitar,Vocals Ray Collins-Vocals, Tamborine,Harmonica Roy Estrada-Bass, Vocals Jim Black-Drums
9) I'm So Happy I Could Cry 10) Go Cry On Somebody Else's Shoulder 11) How Could I Be Such A Fool?
Items 9-11 from original mono reel to reel 7 1/2 ips tape. More Mothers possibly of Invention. More demo's. Recorded between the Watt's riots and Freak Out! Hello FZ guitar overdubs. Did FZ play all the guitar tracks? Quantum mysteriosis.
FZ-Guitar(s),Vocals Ray Collins-Vocals Roy Estrada-Bass Jim Black-Drums
12) "we made our reputation doing it that way..."
Item 12 an interview with FZ
The insert just has a few pictures and a short synopsis on this album, and a few later years quotes from FZ. I like it because of the clean sound of the band's playing.
Joe's Domage:
THE TAPE:
1) When it's perfect....3:18 2) The New Brown Clouds 2:44 3) Frog Song 17:23 4) It Just Might Be A One Shot Deal 1:57 5) The ending line....3:12 6) Blessed Relief/The New Brown Cloud 5:03 7) It ain't real So What's The Deal 13:14 8- Think It Over(some)Think It Over(some more)5:20 9) Another Whole Melodic Section 1:53 10) When it feels natural..... 1:27
Insert is thin, not a lot of info, or pictures. Quality is not that great. It's basically for FZ fans who are in to rehearsal tapes. It's the workings of the '72 band.

Some zappa.com forum quotes that keep me from participating, let alone doing so much as open my mouth there: jaypfunk: Good. Now maybe you'll stop asking all these fuckin' questions and actually do some research yourself. jaypfunk: Hey fucktard.... I have like 400+ Zappa shows in my collection. How the fuck can I remember everything?? Suck a fat cock will ya?? Nnnnice. Jaypfunk, as you can see, is obviously quite the erudite Zappa-connoisseur (if you own anything less than 400 Z shows -- you Sir/Madame, are in for a real treat). His way of expressing things however, could do with a bit more finesse here and there, as I'm sure you'll agree. Did I mention he's a drummer? jaypfunk and Isaac, you just have to take with a grain of salt. Those two constantly throw insults at each other and at times gets out of hand. My short 14 months on Z.com I've seen people not being able to handle the verbal barrages and not stick around, which is understandable. Then again, the one thing that is in everyone's favor is you can just scoll on by and not read it. |

I had just purchased "Sleep Dirt" and was totally surprised on the song bearing the same name. Definitely have to scoure the albums looking for more acoustical guitar playing by FZ. It was a wonderful change from what I came to know and love. |

Surprisingly I like "Francesco Zappa". I'm not a fan of classical music except I will listen to Mozart occasionally. I was brought up being taken to listen to opera, symphany, and even saw the Bolshoy Ballet do "The Nutcracker Suite" it bored me to death. Mabey getting older has produced a better tolerance and respect. |
