produced directly in iTunes, on a Mac, as a so-called 'Data CD'. What is a better way to do it (on a Mac)?
As it says in the iTunes Preferences for Data CD - These discs may not play in some players.
Assuming the files are mp3s... click the MP3 CD option just above the Data CD option.
BUT - as I understood the vine thing we are meant to make a copy and send on the original disc - that way everyone gets the same thing without bits missing and/or corrupted.

Some of the the old records that FZ would later perform, write about, or play on his radio shows. All served up in a tasty traditional WPLJ / Valerie sandwich.

I think if you are planning to translate and publish it you should contact the publishers (Omnibus?) who will probably give you a few copies to work from if they think it is a worthwhile project.

Does anyone have any recomendations for affordable, user-friendly, PC- based burning software for my computer(I have windows xp)
It is a common problem and is partly due to the way mp3s work. The easiest cure, if you have access to the original recording, is to make the whole album one huge mp3 rather than individual tracks.
Working with vined CDs you could try MPTrim or Feurio both of which I have seen recommended elsewhere but, not being a Windows user, I know nothing about.
Apple's free iTunes has an option for selecting the length of the gap (from 2 seconds to None) in the Burning preferences.

It seems that the wiki is quite happy to have people listed by their surname in a correct, sensible and useful kind of way. Simply add it to the category definition [[Category:Musicians|Kleinow, "Sneaky Pete"]] then "Sneaky Pete" is listed under K rather than outside the alphabet because his name starts with a " character 
It seems that the wiki can probably meet all our needs if we took a little time to get to know it's ways - rather than rushing in and making yet another long list of people/albums/socks/etc - and ignore what other people have done on other websites and stick to a purely wiki way.
The Biography should be a short introduction to FZ for anybody who knows nothing about him. The details are in the articles within the wiki which are linked to from the biography...
In the early 1960's he had a studio in Cucamonga.
...is all the biography needs - with studio linked to the Studio Z page, which links to recordings done at the studio, and Cucamonga linked to it's own page which links to Studio Z... etc. etc.
How about adding a date category for the tracks? That way we can (eventually) include tracks from bootlegs sorted by date of recording. It would also help solve conflicts within the main discography...

Presumably this could be split down to a full day/month/year category to allow for tours where the same song was often performed.
I think we have been locked into too closely following other peoples thinking - lists of albums, lyrics included on a tracks page, pictures of covers - without thinking how best to do this stuff in a wiki way.

Lukas Hurnik (born in Prague in 1967) composer, graduated from Charles University with a degree in Music Studies. He learned to compose from his father, composer Ilja Hurnik. He works as director manager of Czech Radio 3 - Vltava, and is mainly concerned with musical education programs. In 1990 his composition Hot-Suite for piano duo won first prize at the Piano Duo Association of Japan contest. His compositions have been awarded a number of honors at Czech and international competitions. A strong rhythm and melody and polyphonic voice parts are typical of Hurnik's synthesis. The author does not feel a need to seek out ever new means of expression at all costs. Rather, he enjoys using a traditional approach to describe new content in an interesting context.

And I agree with Emdebe on this.
It deserves to be as fully presented as the lyrics - ideally on it's own page  |
