According to the US Postal Service, it's too early to say for sure, but the World Tour Book may now better be known as the "Lost" Episodes. Here's the latest Poop:
KUR World Tour - The "Lost" Episode.

US Postal Customer (Jack C. Oonk) 03/18/2008 09:53 PM

Subject
I mailed a Priority Flat Rate Envelope containing a memory book that appears to be lost in the mail. I am trying desperately to find it. I have my receipt for the priority mail with pertinent data. How do I contact the Mail Recovery Center to inquire?

Amber,
I can provide you with all the details I have, in roughly the order you request, from my receipt:

Mailed 03/08/2008 from Holland, MI 494239998 at 10:06 AM
253923-0230-0095
Mailed to -
John Lind

Asheville, NC 28801
(no additional services added)
Zone-4 Priority Mail
Flat Rate Env
1 lb. 9.10 oz
Bill #: 1000500682934
Clerk: 18
Return address:
Jack C. Oonk
SOFA
16 West 21st Street
Holland, MI 49423
Contents: A "memory" book - scrapbook, if you will...
Value: Probably $15.00 US, but to the people that contributed memories to this book, it is priceless...

I have good quality digital images of everything that was inside the book, if that helps, but a brief description of the front cover is: a hand-drawn picture of Frank Zappa holding the book itself, with text "Barry's Imaginary Publisher Presents - KILLUGLYRADIO WORLD TOUR - Music is the Best". There is other, smaller text not significant to this description. Believe me, there is not another book cover on the planet like this one.
I sincerely hope you can help me track this package down. It means a lot to several people!
I do not suspect "foul play", or negligence by anyone, postal employee or otherwise. I have a feeling that the Flat Rate envelope was damaged enough making the package undeliverable.
I can be called if needed at 616-499-1555. I can also email the digital images if needed.
Thank you for your response, and your assistance in this matter.
Regards,
Jack C. Oonk

I take it that you received my reply, Amber... That's good.
That means you received my information and description. That is also good.
From this I can only assume that a) you understood my problem, b) have a fair and accurate description of the lost package, and c) will pursue this matter, and inform me of how I can contact the Mail Recovery Center that covers Priority Mail Packages mailed from my area that are undeliverable, so that I might inquire of them if they have seen the package...
Please feel free to correct this assumption if in error.

Amber,
The very first line of my "details" starts with "Mailed 03/08/2008 from Holland, MI 494239998 at 10:06 AM". So the date the item was mailed was March 8, 2008. I'm sorry if I was not detailed enough...
Thank you!
Jack

Dear Jack C. Oonk,
Thank you for your reply.
We will always strive to deliver the mail item as quickly as possible. Our procedure is to document the issue 14 Postal business days after the shipping date if the item has still not been delivered. Please reply to this email after March 25, 2008.
If I can be of assistance to you in the future, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Thank you for choosing the United States Postal Service®.

The Tour Book is nothing short of amazing!
My contribution is complete; now if I only had the amazing Frunobulax's snail mail...

Oooops! Heh-heh...
Fruny, send email to jcoonk at ameritech dot net, please. The email contacts posted for me at KUR take a convoluted and unreliable route; the above is direct.
Thanks!

World Tour arrived in today's post - thank you gnarly artly!
As requested, I shall photograph all pages thus far - in case of catastrophic loss, and then add my 2 cents, er, pages...
I will do this as quickly as possible, but it will take a bit. So if Frunobulax cares to email me with his snail addy when the chance comes...

Thank you Engel, that was most excellent...

The Blues are a good place to lose your depressions and anxieties; the lyrics, often beyond pain, are presented in such a joyous way.
This clip was a perfect example.

PS Barry! Bless you for the spell check! It does help so in these bleary, beer-laden hours.

Greetings One & All!
April is right around the corner and we all know what that means:
(Yeah, it means a shitload of things to a lot of different people, but for our purposes it means)
The Annual “Zappathon” is coming up soon! (April 23rd, to be precise.)
That’s right, you heard right, the 12 hour extravaganza that dares to be Zappa will mangle the air waves in a little less than a month.

(Bring the Band down behind me, Boys.)

For those that have tuned-in in the past, you know that there’s bound to be a ton of tasty FZ to enjoy, much of it rare or difficult to acquire - making the Zappathon a “must listen” in the FZ community. Yup. Uncle Frank gets the radio play he sorely lacked during his all-too-brief lifetime - 12 freakin’ hours worth!

But this is more than just an announcement regarding the program, this is also a “call to arms” (or mouths, if you prefer).
Once again, “Mr. Edison” - the Zappathon’s guiding light (Zappa-List member Bill Amutis) - and Company have asked if I would like to be a “voice” for the FZ Community on the program. I’ve agreed…

But with so many “voices” out there, I couldn’t help wonder “Why Me?” So I concocted this Evil Plan:
Since the Zappathon is truly a global event, as is the FZ Community, why not incorporate some ‘other voices’ into the program?
The Powers at WUSB have deemed this “a BRILLIANT idea” (go figure).

So this is your chance to “share the air” with the likes of Greg Russo, Nigey Lennon, David Walley, Charles Ulrich, Candy Zappa - to name just a few past Zappa luminaries that have appeared; your chance to pay personal homage to the man that brought most of us together; your chance to “plug” your fan club, FZ Tribute Band, FZ website, make a statement or that ‘long distance dedication’ you’ve been dying to make.

“Gee, SOFA, how can I lend MY voice to this year’s Zappathon?”

Glad you asked…
Here’s the deal: the Zappathon is a radio show and - as such - it has certain ‘rules’ it needs to abide, announcing its call letters (WUSB) for one. The show is also part of the annual Fund Drive to keep the station in operation, so there NEEDS to be requests for support.
We (in the FZ global community) can help out by providing these “station breaks”.
For example: “Hi, this is Poodle from theBIGnote and you’re listening to Zappathon 2006 from WUSB Stoneybrook”; or “This is ‘Barry’ from ‘Kill Ugly Radio’ in Belgium. We’re all doing our part to Kill Ugly Radio and no one does more than the hard workin’ folks down at WUSB Stoneybrook… If ya think about it, that’s kinda beautiful. And while you’re thinkin’ about it, why not throw a coupla bucks their way?”; or “This is Bart from Poland and I want to dedicate “Strictly Genteel” to my pal Dimi in Croatia.”

Get the Picture? The possibilities are indeed endless…
All you need to do is simply record your audio message, and email it to me. I will collate all of the submissions, burn them to disk, and send it on to the team at WUSB.
Don’t know what to say? Email me. Want to Freak Out in the Suburbs? Go for it!
(WUSB is a Public Radio operation that can “push the envelope” of “acceptable” radio play; however, the staff retains the right to edit or omit anything patently obscene or profane. We want to Kill Ugly Radio, not WUSB.)

Kinda like registering to vote, this is your chance to let your voice be heard!
Let the taping begin…

Warm Regards,
SOFA

I'd be interested in knowing what the outcome of the auction is, if you'd be so kind Ninja...
(dramatic tableau)
"Hello; my name is SOFA and I'm an eBayholic..."
Warm response: "Hi, SOFA!"
"I tried my first auction in 1998; I won a pristine copy of 'The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers', issue #2. I probably paid a few more dollars for it than I should, but I got caught up in the auction and I really wanted that classic edition..."
"Tho' oddly exhilarated by that first time, I figured that this was something that I could control. I tried a few more - just little things, like a Sinclair Gas Pump Transistor Radio [just like the one I had as a a child], or the Weights & Balance set [in a custom carrying case]. I was sure that I was in control, tho' I admit that losing an auction in the 11th hour fueled my competitive nature..."
"But then I discovered the Zappa page on eBay."
Comiserative Response: "Oooooh"
Within a year, my finances were in shambles; I'd sacrifice food money to get my hands on 'The Mystery Box', or 'Toxic Shock Trilogy'. When my family finally intervened, I knew that I had hit bottom."
"I have been eBay-free now for 4 years."
Compassionately Supportive Response: "Yay!; You go, SOFA; Tell it, Brother!"

13  The White Zone / No Commercial Potential / Re:What is the value of "THIGH" bootleg? on: February 26, 2006, 04:46:09 PM
Well, "value" is relative... It depends on how much someone else wants it, and is willing to pay.
I bought my very clean copy of Thigh on Ebay 6 years ago in a fairly spirited auction for $35. (At that time, it was $5 more than I normally paid for a 2-LP boot.)
Figuring inflation as best I can, I'd expect to pay $41.50 today.
BUT: it's really only a reprint of Tis the Season... & Toxic Shock pt 1. I have those too. I think I paid 7 bucks for TTS in 98 (from a commercial outlet!), and $35 for the Toxic Shock Trilogy around the same time. This, to me has far greater "value"...
So what to charge? Did the "guy selling it for $150" sell it, or was that his minimum? Because if he/she/it got 150 bucks for Thigh, then I would LOVE to talk to the sucker that bought it for that. My financial worries would be over in short term.
I mean, I'd never think of selling any of my FZ collection - but that's stupid money. Even I can be bought for that kind of change...

You'd think they'd learn...
The last time a Bush Party hunted Quayle, the shot the vice presidency in the face and America in the foot.
I'm sorry.
