41 and Apostrophe was my first experience
2  Frank Zappa / The Blue Light / Re:WPLJ on: October 21, 2005, 05:27:18 AM
Thanks Balint.  I am glad it's in spanish cuz my little kids sing along to the English lyrics...it's their favorite Zappa song.  If only they knew.

Can anyone translate the end "non english" lyrics in WPLJ for me?
4  Frank Zappa / The Blue Light / Re:Hi Yo Silver on: January 27, 2005, 05:55:23 PM
Thanks for the clarification Fanoga.

Clearly there is a western theme developing here.  Maybe Lonesome Cowboy Squirt has some more info to share with us on the subject of love, love on the range.

I always thought Silver had a little hitch in his giddyup, now I know that the Lone Ranger was, "literally", behind it.

Time to move to Montana...whooppeee!

On "You Can't Do That on Stage Anymore Vol 3" the members of the band appear to be amused by the term Hi-Yo Silver.  Is this an inside joke with the band?  They say it repeatedly throughout the cd, almost to the point of annoying.  What's the deal with good ol Silver?

therefore Zappa sings about poodles?

Having the used cd store call when one shows up has worked well for me.  I have yet to be disappointed in the quality and I have picked up some harder to find ones.  I belong to an online used cd notice board, they email me when a Zappa treat arrives and ask what is the nearest store location they can ship to.

I have gathered alot lately, obviously these cd's were given as gifts to non Zappophiles.

In case you were wondering I don't belong to an online used tie notice board.

Book - Who Will Cry When You Die - Sharma  Nice little tricks for living decently.

DVD - Shrek 2 - hey I have a 5 year old.

CD- FZ Mystery Disc - Still haven't figured it out yet, maybe repetetive playback will help.

ok, ok, maybe Ahmet isn't so bad after all
geesh
12  Frank Zappa / Strictly Critique / What's your opinion of Ahmet? on: April 05, 2004, 09:44:30 AM
A while back I saw Ahmet host a robot wars show.  Bloody embarrasing.  Does his name get him gigs like that?

Similarly, I saw Henry Rollins hosting a show (maybe British) along the same ilk as Robotica.  Either way, don't these people have underlings that can tell them that hosting these shows is a bad career move?

I guess you have to pay the bills somehow but jeesh, have some respect for yourself.

Ok, back from the tangent, has Ahmet done anything worth while?
13  Frank Zappa / The Blue Light / Re:some quetions on FZ's lyrics on: March 30, 2004, 06:56:53 AM
yep I agree but, the devil speaks of Milhouse Nixon and Agnew too as being bad suckers...who are they?
14  Frank Zappa / The Blue Light / Re:Ya Honza Lyrics on: March 09, 2004, 04:13:13 PM
Thanks be to you, and also with you Sofa.  I appreciate your lengthy answer, I will wait for the lost passages  to show up at later date.

I like the notion that FZ was messing with those sorts that listened to reverse lyrics in the hopes of finding a message, that sounds like something he would do.  I will definately have another listen to Sofa to see about him ripping on organized religion.

I missed why you didn't think the song was awkwardly arranged.  I know nothing about music and timing "officially" but this song doesn't have a simple pattern that you can tap your toe to.  I know that many of FZ's songs had tempo and timing changes - he created his own vision of arranging notes-not following the conventional norm.  By awkward, I meant this song just didn't seem to have the routine doowop timing of other songs, where you can get up and dance with your auntie.  I have grown accustomed to this awkwardness with Frank now....so maybe it isn't awkward anymore?...just unconventional - yeah that's what I meant.

Cheers and thanks.

ooops, as they say "my bad" on the mispelled title.

Is the song actually Sofa#2 just played backwards?

Or is it just backward lyrics for Sofa #2 on an awkwardly arranged (forward/normal) song?

Either way, what is the meaning of the lyrics and the backwards purpose?  I am sure FZ didn't run a song backwards just for the purpose of this chat room.

Sofa: for sure you must have answers with your nickname.
