Promotional Pictures For Zappa’s 200 Motels
In 1971 Frank Zappa released what would become a veritable cult movie entitled Zappa's 200 Motels. Messy, odd, confusing, surreal, incoherent, rubbish, masterpiece, call it what you want. As with anything Zappa, this film has the merit of leaving none of its viewers indifferent.
Here now are scans from original prints of promotional pictures taken during the production process. They were made at the time for United Artists Corporation (who released the film). There's a notice at the bottom of the prints that states: "Permission granted for newspaper and magazine reproduction.", so I guess there's no harm in me putting them online here...
